M$ will be able to make allowances in their databases for repairs they have carried out. They do seem to think just having a bigger HD means you are cheating/pirating.

Both of my Xboxes have been online since the beginning of Live, and both of them have long since had larger hard drives, that would NOT pass a model check.

i think they are checking serial #'s   and if your parts dont match you get banned  they know whats in each xbox    cause people with a 1.0 1.1 with a foxlink power supply got that big ass cord    so i think when you sign on  if you serial numbers dont match whats in there data base you get banned

I've been working on getting my switch set up as well.  The only thing that I really need to take care of is crimping the ide cable...everything else is set up.

I don't understand why people get so mad when they get banned with a modded xbox.  Nobody knows what future "scans" or m$ strategy to find modded boxes.  I think eventually everybody that has a chip will get banned cause they're gonna find a way to see it sooner or later.  Play on XBL and have a modded box then plan on getting BANNED!

Why is a larger HDD such a big deal anyway?
Maybe it's simply because I'm cheap, but I kept the original stock drive (I'm lucky enough to have the larger stock drive) and I just either FTP files to the xbox as needed or stream media across my local network from the PC.
If having illegal xbe's on the HDD or evidence of homebrew software in the gamesave directories can get you banned we're all in trouble.
There are many ways ppl could get banned that aren't (so far as I know) utilised, such as video mode and region changing.
Glad I stopped by here though, since upgraded to 4983.67 bios - less worried about live now

Just got banned here as well.  Wonder if it has something to do with submitting your xbox information to get that new powerchord sent to you.  I was running on LIVE fine forever now.  Frankly, I haven't switched my modship on since I installed it a year ago.  Seems as though, once I submitted my S/N to get that power chord...now I'm banned.  Connection?

what size/brand HDD do you have ?

Had a box that was banned from someone going on live with the chip on, changed the eeprom with one I KNOW was never used on live since it came from one of my softmodded boxes.  I also put a new stock MS hard drive in it that was never on live before.  Its been fine for a couple of months and now its banned again for no reason.

something i'd like to contribute, why does it seem that it's always people that have been playign with their EEPROMs that get banned? maybe team assembly missed sometihng with their hdd locking schemes?
