In many people’s opinions, Bungie have screwed up Halo 2 due to the unsatisfactory Matchmaking system.  Let me show you why:

1)   9 settings to choose from – only 3 different choices – Slayer, Team Slayer or Strategy based games

2)   The map lists and variation of games played are very minimal for each option – i.e. Burial Mounds Assault 7/10 times on Team Skirmish

3)   It actually throws you in against random players from various playing levels – ok, they have their ranking system, but crap players can increase their ratings just by being on the same team as great players and hiding in the corners.
 
Basically, Bungie need more options to choose from.  Possibly a selection of actual gametypes that people want to play rather than a general overview and being thrown into any random gametype that their system sees fit.

To get this underway, my friend has started a partition to get a CTF Classic option into the system and we need as many signatures as possible.  CTF classic was voted 2nd favourite gametype by Halo players after Team Slayer – which already has its separate league.

I love Single CTF.

The only thing Im peeved of at is that when Im playing with a guest on Slayer, 9/10 times the Map is Ivory Tower. WE WANT HEADLONG DAMN IT!!  <_<

For your matching complaint...read Bungie's website.  It goes into great detail about how it sets up a game.

And for wanting to choose the game type and field to play...there is another great option...create your own party.

I've been reading these forums since November and I havent heard anybody complain about HALO 2s options for Multiplayer, so I don't know where your coming from on this.

If you would read around (including the Bungie forums as you say you have) you would find that people do want the choice of gametypes to play against anyone - not just friends as this is the only way to play custom games - but for that, your friends must be online.

yes it throws random players in, but if your complaining about your team mates, get a team together before you play matchmaking...

I agree there should be more levels, and Coagulation should not be a team slayer game, to big for 4v4.

Also there should be a couple small maps for 1 vs 1 only.

As for the random games...

People would never play those odd games like plots or king of the hill, or odd ball... if everybody only played the game they wanted to, eveybody would win all the time.. Bungie has to mix it up...

considering the amount of people on xbox live, I think they did a damn good job with the ranking and how you get a game goin... and they did say they were open to suggestions, which is how team slayer and team skimirmish got split up to begin with
