Although there are multiple ways of recovering your existing box (see Forum threads for eeprom recovery), buying a new Xbox (un-modded) and recovering your GT is the quickest and easiest way of doing it (in my opinion).

That is what M$ is hoping for...that you access XBL with an un-modded Xbox.

It's not always quicker or easier to get a new Xbox. Putting a new EEPROM isn't difficult, and if you got banned by upgrading HD you can reuse the old HD. If someone has already changed the HD, they won't find it difficult to change it again. Slayer's will restore a HD to factory.

Use "Account Recovery" option on your new xbox after you install the Live! software.
You need to use te same credit card you used when creating the account.

Then can you go back to your old xbox, with the chip disabled of course, or is that Xbox still banned?

And if you can, then couldn't use just use the band xbox, and disable the chip and use the account recovery?

Or is this only wishful thinking?

You can't go back on XBox Live with your old xbox because that XBox is permantly banned. For someone to be a registered user for as long as you have, you should know that!

The xbox gets banned as in the eeprom its using. You can get back online if you get a new unsed one online. Then I also believe you have to get a new hdd to go with it if the "marriage" theory is correct.

Also if you've got a Gamertag that has previously ran on a banned Xbox the new HD MUST be a stock HD.

Flagged gamertag's initiate a more thorough check when they connect to Xbox Live so;
XBLive + modchip off + big HD = another Banning. wink.gif
