Okay...I narrowed it down to either a 1.4 or 1.5 xbox, didn't have a multi-meter to see whether or not the two jumpers are connected or disconnected...but I do have the "focus" video chip. Anywho...what do you think...the eeprom that i loaded in there was a 256k eeprom...so I don't think that is the problem. Last night, I did the slayer and made it COMPLETELY STOCK and it still gave a network error...which was strange becasue I can get online with it perfectly when another xbox is hooked up...so I KNOW it isn't the connection. Hope that helps a little.

What eeprom version did you put to your xbox? You know?
The fact that you checked with a different XBOX and connected perfectly to Live!, eliminates the possibility of a wrongfully configured network on the non-xbox side.
What are the setting in your xbox network configuration secction? Are they automated? Does your ISP requires any aditional configuration?
Sorry for asking so many question, I am using the "elimination proccess" here to see what we come down to.
I also did some research and your problem is exactly the same as in
THIS thread. And everything points to a wrong eeprom version.
If you get a hold to a tester you can make sure what xbox version you have. It would be really a big help if you find out, as it also would help a lot knowing which eeprom version you flashed in. But don't go buy one... try to borrow one from a friend or something.
I've tried searching about eeprom compatibility but came up with nothing. Will go trhough the tuts completley to see if I missed something.
If someone else is reading this, and knows where I can find an xbox + eeprom version compatibility chart, I would really apreciate any links to that info.
Let's all try and help this fella.
