i went online and it found my ip, dns etc;. but it cannot connect to live.

i have never been online with it before, so i am confused now

it does have a large hdd with an x3 chip

i use a bios that disables live when the modchip is on

I had a similar problem except I was getting a service error screen whenever I tried accessing xbox live from the M$ dashboard.  Everything would work fine from the M$ dash until I accessed xlive then the service repair screen would come up.  I reformatted my c: drive and reinstalled the M$ dash from slayers disc.  The install came from the 2.5 slayer not the 2.6.  I used this version because I didn't want slayer to install the xlive portion of the M$ dash.  Afterwards I booted up and allowed M$ to install their xbox live software from scratch.  Worked perfectly since.

i had the same problem when setting up my live account. Everything would work fine but then it wouldnt connect to live. it was retarded. So then i checked my eeprom and i found out that it was a blank eeprom. Apparently, the guy who installed a chip in my box also took my eeprom and replaced it with a blank one. So then i had to go on xbox scene and buy a new one, and then i used configmagic to get the new one on my xbox. After that, i tried to connect to live and it worked fine. Just get the program configmagic from where ever and then check out ur eeprom to see if you got the same problem...

MAN! Soulja.  That was pretty cold of that dude to do that.  I'm sure he know what he was doing too when he installed your chip.  He pretty much cheated you out of your eeprom.

tried formatting the drive, replaced all files.

no go, so i changed my eeprom and i get the same exact problem.

I have recently installed an evolution x chip to my xbox. I was told to push and hold the on button so the chip would turn on. This is true, however when i turn on the xbox normally the chip still loads--- The screen is the MS one and seems like the chip is off but the led's still change colour and i can nolonger get onto xbox live. I was told there was a way to disable the chip from auto loading? If you could advise me it would be greatly appriceated. This happened a few days after installing the chip and i could get onto live fine b4. I have had no messages saying i have been banned.
