Reason For Ban?
« on: January 04, 2005, 01:34:00 PM »

So the other day I got banned from LIVE because I accidentally deleted one of LIVE's files while in FTP which led to a ban when I tried to sign in. Anyways, I bought a unbanned eeprom from Zodiak (Thanks again). Last night I changed my xbox's eeprom and then locked hdd and then restarted to see if the new eeprom was read which it was. Then I signed up for LIVE through Halo2 using one of my 2 month free serials. I was playing Halo2 for hours perfectly fine. I just tried to sign onto LIVE again and it's once again saying I am banned, although the xbox wasnt touched since I previously played fine on halo. The chip was off. I'm trying to figure out why but I dont know. I was thinking maybe they log IPs along with banned eeproms and when someone from that IP signs on they scan the xbox for files but thats a little extreme. It was the same hdd so more likely the hdd serial? Any ideas?

Microwned! Last I knew disabling a mod and making sure your drive was locked/the original drive and you wouldn't get banned... maybe not anymore.

Unless you've been living under a rock since halo 2 came out, you should know by now that just changing your eeprom isint going to do anything. You will have to change out the hard drive and get a new eeprom as the 2 are registered when you log into live. Since you switched eeprom, m$ already knew that you were still using the same hd with the old eeprom hence the ban you got now.

Actually, I live in a cave. Thanks for the response. So would changing the hdd serial/mac address fix it or do I literally have to change the hdd?

does the HDD key change when you use a new (unbanned) EEPROM? Let's say you have a stock, original xbox HDD (10 GB) and are banned. If you replace the EEPROM, format the HDD with slayer's 2.6 and lock the HDD, can you get back on live again with modchip off and same GT?
