Changed The Hdd Key

I modded a copuple of my friends xboxes, and one of them signs into xbox live just fine, the other will not. it comes up with the error about the configuration of the xbox being bad or something like that... all i did to this guys xbox was used eeprom magic to change the HDD key to the same one my other friends has so we could hot swap hds without having to unlock them.... that is the only reason i am thining of..... is this the problem and how do i fix it?
