i modded a box for a guy i used to work with for his son,

xbox 1.6 Xecuter 2.6 wire lpc rebuilt, adapter wasnt out yet, evox M816 bios / 3921 dash booting from F: used a evox boot disk to format F: left c: and e: alone, all apps on F: i ghosted a few from the ini so the kid couldnt mess anything up but the apps are on the box incase i had to explain to his dad how to fix things if needed,

this guy called me up saying he got the moddified xbox error of death, come to find this guy has a really honest kid said he got curious and played a back up online this guys knows it not my fault

but he refered another guy at the job to me 2 weeks later, same exact set up
this guys is trying to tell me i owe him and xbox because he wasted 70.00 on a live kit and now cant play online i told him ill give him a new xbox in exchange for the moddded one as i know a couple guys looking for one. he swears up and down at me i aint giving you squat and demands i buy him a xbox

from the set up i described does it seem i messed up using evox to make the f partition, in my eyes these guys shouldnt of been banned as the hard drive was never changed and there c and e slots were never touched

the first guy was banned 3 weeks ago this a**hole #2 guy 2 days ago i wish i new how to make an audio link id love for everyone to hear the message left on my machine

Yup... What an asshole. What he's asking is beyond unreasonable. I hope you told him that none of these methods are fool proof from being banned from Live. It could be as simple as somebody playing a backup online or as complex as any of the theories posted on here.. What you offered is more than adequete.

Screw him; you did as he asked, his Xbox shouldn't have been banned if he wasn't playing backups, or playing on Live with his chip off. You said he only just got his Live kit, he shouldn't have been playing backups on Live, or should have paid attention to your instructions.

Of course, you should probably be installing BIOSes with Live blocking too, but at the same time, still not your fault if he's too stupid to be able to follow simple instructions.

If he threatens you, get the police involved; as long as you didn't load his hard drive up with 40 games before you sent it out, the cops won't lay a finger on you; modding in itself isn't a crime, but him threatening you is.

He can take you to small claims if he wants; as long as you have proof that it wasn't your fault, you're in the clear.

well if these are 1.6s there is no Live blocking bios (unles you have the x3 chip)

anyway, the guy sounds like a dick, you offered to buy him a new xbox (in exchange for the old one back) thats more than most people would do, if he doesnt want to give it back to you i say you dont do anything to fix his problem (of course his bitching will likely get annoying) i mean think abou tit, any store you go to, if you arent satisfied or your product is broken you ALWAYS have to give the broken one back to exchange fora new one

i bet his ass isnt even banned, or he got himself banned on purpose to tyr to get a second box out fo you, man some people

i told both of these guys make sure the chip is off when going on line and to even turn the chip off when playing original games and that for the best security to unplug the cable when not playing online, the first guy i knew pretty well and hes being reasonable about it, this other guy i quit before he started there so i dont really know him, both of these guys the mod was done for there sons one is 11 the other 9 so i dont believe any of this is my fault at all, but ill leave the message on the machine ill have to borrow my sisters mp3 player since it records voice, my nextel i95 records voice but i have no way to get it on the pc

or can i mabey conect the xbox head set to the mic port on the pc and use that but what to use to record it to the pc

the first guy i saved everything on disks gave it to him and erased all info from my pc

that a$$hole i still have his eeprom info, im tempted to flash it to my box to see if hes actually banned but i have a 1.4

i just dont see them getting banned being my fault, didnt even upgrade hard drives just made f partition on the stock drives and these were done 3 weeks apart so its not like i could of accidentaly swapped there drives or something

a buddy of mine did 3 X2.6 installs on diff version boxes around the same time i did these as i had him order the first chip when he ordered his so the shipping and quantity discount was better, my second install i got the chip from buddy as he had a couple left still, the 3 my buddy did he hasnt got a call back yet and put evox on the c: partions and emu's on e i left them alone and made the f partion for everything

But if you're a REALLY good guy and want to help him out despite all the BS, you HAVE TO have the banned box back in order to give him the new one... I wouldn't do it any other way.

kinda sucks my wife erased the message, the guy i did this for the xbox was for his 9 year old son, he said it wouldnt be going on live, i think the father got into a game or two something and decided to get live, i found out that with all the holiday phone calls one of this guys nephews told him about upgrading the hard drive so the games could be played without the disk, and he had the nephew take care of it,funny thing is i think this guy and his wife are fighting now cause he wasnt home and i talked to his wife and she told me everything so im in the clear for sure with this one all and all its still this guys fault cause i told him there was apps on the box that didnt show up on the menu that there was a file to edit for them to show up in the menu, i did this with the ini so his kid couldnt go playing around and delete or mess things up, but i told him if he needed help to call me

anyway this guy didnt get a router he unplugged his internet everytime he played live so it wasnt playing with the chip on according to him

all in all it adds more proof to the marriage theory
