hook the modem up to your comp and then: go to control panel>network connections>right-click on your LAN and then choose Status> click the support tab and then click Details. write down the DNS servers shown there and then enter them manually into the Xbox.

These instructions apply to Windows XP. If you dont have XP then you'll have to find another way to find out the DNS addresses.
