So check it out... i have been reading all this shit about xbox live, and i have been trying to help out as much as i can... then i ran some expensive test's.
i can confirm now the following...

1. game tags are not "tagged thats bullshit and people should get over it." will tell you why at the end.

2. people with 1.0's and 1.1's will only be able to do testing on what i found. sorry others...

3. xbox's that have never been online can only do this? why of course most of you already know the answer.

4. DO NOT USE SLAYER 2.6 TO DO THE INSTALL DAMN IT!

this was what i tested with

1. got 2 old xbox's that never been online.
  a. the one that never has been online got the HD removed and replaced with a   maxtor 300gb 16meg drive. then installed the dashboard that came with the old drive. the 4034 bios on it with the old dash that has no live option.
  b. 2nd i installed a 120 gig 8meg HD and installed it with slayers software that has the new live software....

on both box's i let them go online for updates... played halo 2 went to sleep.

2. what happend in 24 hours....
(removed the chips on both system's the day before.)

a. so i wake up and i play some halo 2 before i go to work and i think cool they are not banning yet...
b. turn on 2nd xbox and BANNED... WTF.

Thats it... the key to all this shit is the dashboard. the dash is marring this shit by force.
and to top it off... i am using what some people call tagged Gamertag. i have been banned so many times under my name its not even half funny.

to help out, i want 1.0 test dummies that has unbanned HD's to post on the thread so i can send you a none banned eprom to help me on the quest... and please... i can only give 3 eproms...

so you get anything from my post... there is no such thing as tagged GT
and if you get the 2nd... will you guys know that once you go on live with the HD and the xbox... your stuck with those 2 fuckers togther. and dont go stright to the newest dash when you go online with the 2.

Message to you other fucking modders... dont leech off the scene, help the fuck out. i have seen to many modders that can do my research but would rather wait for someone else to do it then they even lift a finger... most modders are only active in the modders fourm... you bastards have to do some work sometimes too, i am most active in the TSOP flashing area so i never crap thread my own thread.

i have a 1.0, but i upgraded the hard drive...; i have live, and havent got banned...had it since halo2 was out...
i am willing to be a tester, if i meet the requirements...

Your test is incunclusive.  I say this because box B was not a fresh never on live box, at least the way I read it.  So if box Bs eeprom had been previously exposed to live then there is no way to conclude that slayers had anything to do with it being banned.  I do believe that it is possible that ms might have some way of reading dash version and upgrade sequence and thus comparing that with eeprom and box version determining that you have upgraded your dash through some 3rd party app/mod.

A more precise way to test that theory would be to get a v1.0 or v1.1 that has never been on live and remove the stock drive.  Low Level format the stock drive.  Rebuild the stock drive with slayers.  Remove the chip or soft modd.  Then sign up for live and take the Halo2 update.

hey guys... when i say dont use slayers 2.6. i mean dont use it because it has the latest in MS dashboard.... i dont understand how i got banned on xbox B but i think its because it was formatted and installed with the newest bios when it should have been looking for a upgrade path when it indeed found none at all but just a new system.... thats why i said WTF for system B

correct me if i'm wrong, but what I get from your test is that if you are banned all you have to do is install a new, unbanned eeprom and then start using the stock dashboard and BIOS or something like that?

I had actually thought about trying to use an older dash that doesn't have Live on it. And then update it from a game (NHL2k5) and see what happens w/  flagged GT.

I have a (what i hope is) virgin XBL Eeprom and i KNOW a virgin XBL 200GB HD. And a "flagged" GT.

My test:
I was banned for some reason with my original eeprom and an upgraded 160GB HD just after the bannings started.

I changed out the eeproms with one of 2 I bought, and put in a 200GB HD. Went on live with my same GT. Did *NOT* put an F:\ partition or any rogue XBEs on any other partition. I was banned within 10 hours.

I put in the 2nd eeprom and a new 200GB HD (thank you Black Friday). I haven't been on live (I have yet to even load the MS Dash). Just loaded iND-BIOS 5003, which says it has XBL blocking. I also renamed all the 'update.xbe' 'dashupdate.xbe' 'download.xbe' type of XBEs in my backups on the HD.


I used Slayers 2.6 each time. This last time, I had thought about using an old dash, but got lazy.

Hmm...so are you saying that if you have formated your HDD to org specs using slayers you should delete the new dashboard it put on there and put on a old one.  I just recently formated my HDD with slayers 2.6 and was about to go on live, but I might put an older dashboard on if that's what you think is causing the bans.(As soon as I get a credit card I'll be going on live for the first time.)  It would be interesting to see if anyone has formated their HDD with slayers 2.6, which puts the latest dash on their xbox, are still able to get on live.
Edit: One more thing.  For people that have installed slayers 2.6 what would be a possible  solution?  Just delete the old dashboard.xbe and put on a new one or is it more involved?

Well 48 later it got banned.... well at least we now know that its not because of the date on the box =/

hey ydgmms...i can backup what happened with the box you had that got banned...had a customer put in a new, what was said to be virgin eeprom(i trust it was), and he put in a brand new 120gb hdd he got from best buy....banned within 24 hours....people say gt flagging is crazy, but im starting to wonder...he did have files other than ms files tho on c and e which also makes me wonder about hd scanning, who knows....damn M$
