Xbox Live Banning Questions......
« on: November 26, 2004, 07:01:00 AM »

Whats causing the inital scan of your xbox? I know most people have been banned after playing halo 2, NHL 2K5 etc... Is it only one of these games that initiate the check on your HDD?

I'm not banned yet, but been playing burnout 3, PGR 2 and Links online for quite a while, chip off. I installed the Mod Chip and Bigger HDD on the 13th November (It was my birthday gift to myself, chip, hdd and soldering iron!), and had been using live for ages beforehand.

I've not tried halo 2 (its not my cuppa) but am desperatly waiting for Forza, and i'm betting it'll have the same checks as halo2! I've got access to halo 2 should I bite the bullet and try it before I get forza and be gutted if live fails!

Some of my system specs

US NTSC Xbox v1.0
X3 Wired install
160gig Maxtor HDD
UK Xbox Live Account

From day one, the machine has been set to boot to f: no apps or files have ever been installed to any drive other than f (maybe a few saves from XBMC etc)

So basically do the games initiate the checks? I will point out that i'm in the UK, and have a UK based gamertag on an imported NTSC xbox.

I've broken the marrige theory, used xbox after tsunami and v2 update with stock HDD and then changed.

I will add that I did a acc recovery on the xbox to get the gamertag on this new hdd, and it did mention (I can't remember the exact wording) "This gamertag can only be used on this xbox"

If I buy a new eeprom, swap hdd for a new 160gig, then lock the hdd with configmagic will it get locked with the teamassembly password, i'm thinking this is also a contributing factor. The current hdd swap was done with x3 config live rather than configmagic
