It depends on a lot of stuff.

1. Did you have your larger harddrive in prior to the xbox live 2.0 install or did you install it after?
If you did it after then you will have to put in whatever drive u used when 2.0 was installed, this goes with the marriage theory (your xbox and harddrive were married during the xbox live 2.0 update.)
2. Does your modchip have an on/off switch on the outside to cut the power or does it turn on by holding eject or something?  (if you must hold eject or something MS could possibly turn on your modchip by supplying power to certain lpc points while on live.  this isn't 100% for sure yet however there have been cases of this reported.
3.  Your gamertag could possibly be flagged for being banned in the past resulting in a more thourough scan of your system.

i'm sure more people will fill you in with more info, i was just banned today so i'm probably gonna buy a used xbox for live only so idon't have to worrya bout any of this anymore.
