Sounds plausible.. but i have the exact same problem but dont even own a modchip, and i havnt for a few months. I run softmods on my replaced drives, so any possible way for new banning would have to be files on the hard drive, or having a previous backup of me using my hd from months before that.
** correction, the one thing that is not retail in my system right now is the powersupply, and the fact that im powering 2 hds at once.. maybe theyve gotten REALLY smart.**
