M$ Vs. Hip Gear Live Communicator

So, it's like... $20 while the M$ one is... $40CDN.

But, is it a piece of crap? Has anyone used this thing? I don't care about the headset part, I intend to probably break and replace it pretty quickly.

But the piece that plugs into the controller - does it work as well as the M$ one in terms of sound clarity and lifetime?
