Xbox Says Xbox Live Not Found?

I had a modded box.  But I put back the original HD with nothing on it but MS dash.  Does this mean my Xbox is banned?  I have tried connecting with other boxes and it works just fine.

Also if mine is banned:

Can I just switch my mobo with one from my dads and have it be unbanned.  I dont want his harddrive due to the fact that it makes a horrible screeching sound every time you turn the box on.
