The cheaters modify the cached maps in Halo2 and the downloaded content in PGR2.

That's my guesses anywho... and cheaters in PGR2 piss me off soooo much.

Anywho, this really really confirms the whole GamerTag flagging thing wink.gif

Well i can tell you it is not halo 2 for a fact because i got banned and i never even had Halo 2 till 2 hours after i was banned and i never had even considered cheating on XBL in anyway.So they are scanning hard drives atleast in my banning thats what i beleived it was

I think that if you had ONLY the stock xbox files on the c and e drives and had everythign else on the f drive(including dashboards) then you would be less likely to be banned. I think that with the newest live update, that they are in fact scanning the c and e drives when you sign on. If this has been proven wrong, please say so.

Ok......Here is what I found so far.

I have a xbox 1.0 with a 120GB Maxtor, X2.2 with 4981(live blocker) using avalaunch with C: clean and In E: i have a extra Movies folder with Divx and Porn..... I modded my box in July 2003....I was on Live since lauch and cancelled November 2003 after the mod...and HDD change. And i have been back and forth on live woth 2 month free trials ever since. I have never been banned.

Now.....I have been playing Halo 2 Since lauch on Live and have not been banned either.

So i am here to confirm that if you have an older box with a modded locked HD.....and you have never been banned that you can go on live just fine.

After all the readings that I have done.....I am 99% sure that the people that got banned after unbanning with just a clean EEPROM got banned again because Now......HD serials are married with EEPROM. And it is safe to assume that it is one of the updates in the past 6month that actually made this possible. What we need to know is that if MS  marries EEPROMS and HDD of the factory.....which I dont think so.

One thing is for sure. When ever you log on LIVE you HD and EEPROm get married and none of them should be ever changed again.  What I suggest to the the people with bigger hardrives is to change the HD and EEPROM and KEEP A CLEAN C & E.
Try to get and older EEPROM. And you should be Fine. If you still get banned then this either means that the EEPROM was a newer one and might have been married at the Factory or you transfered a Hacked save file.

Good luck people

PS. Dont forget to get rid of everything that is not supporsed to be there in C E and Cache. Yes that includes your hacked saves and your downloaded content which is signed by your old EEPROM , which can be a very good and likely condition to get banned.

If you send your xbox to MS for repairs, they will take care of you and make sure u can still get on live. If they are linkin eeprom to hd, then they will update their info when u send it to them.  they probably have all kinds of tools and apps that lets them mess with everything on the xbox.  its their freakin company after all, and they are not stupid.

You can for sure flash your EEPROM, they are sold here in the Buy and Sell forum.

You cannot alter the serial of a Hard Drive, it's burned into a ROM at the factory.

To answer a previous question on this thread,

For people whose hard drive fails after they've been "married" on XBL, then when the HD is replaced, replace the EEPROM also. Then, use XBL's Account Recovery to re-install your gamertag (this makes XBL think you bought a new console) and you're re-married with the new HD and EEPROM. If you don't use Account Recovery, then when you try to sign on, the new serials won't match the ones on record, and you're new stuff will get banned, so you'll have to go through all of that again.

Ok, I got banned and changed my EEPROM but not my HD and was on XBL for a day and got banned the next.. I am getting a new HD (not stock) and a new EEPROM.. Do I need to get a new Gamertag aswell or can I use my old "banned" one? From what I have read, if you get a banned GT, they will check the size of your HDD and if it is larger, ban time. I just want to confirm that I will have to get a new GT because I have gone through four already and I want to keep my last but stay unbanned.

FUCK MS.  yea i got banned.  changed my eeprom and then put in a stock hdd.  still banned.  im not fucking cheating, i am doing nothing against MSs little disclamer concerning xbl.  and now my account is banned.  fuck m$ lets all go join kai and quit live.  if enough of us can, we can put a big enough dent in it to stand out.

And i dont think they would say, "We understand that people want to make backups, and we respect that"

And I have never heard them say "Sir" near as many times as your 'transcript', and I have called them many many times.

I also would not count anything said by a low level customer service rep as any where near official.

Posting a "call" wasnt productive either. That won't accomplish anything but a few answers from someone who knows nothing. We all knew they would start banning. Hell, SmartXX posted how many months ago that live could easily detect hard drives but no one bothered to care. We all knew this was coming and now everyones complaining.

Why complain when you should have one day knew it would come? Theirs no point in calling. They won't unban. They won't care if you even try anything. You broke their TOC. This is getting quite annoying =)

Finally someone agrees with me. I have told people this many times. They say "MS SUCKS BLAH BLAH BLAH" so I ask what OS they are using "windows". Exactly, if they suck so bad why use their software/hardware?

They never give a reason why MS sucks except that they write buggy software and that they suck. Then quit using what they make...?
