I've had XBOX Live since day 1, and modded sometime around last November.  However, the last time I even signed on to Live was probably around October of last year.

XBOX 1.0 (maybe 1.1)
Xecuter Lite 2.3 - don't know what BIOS - haven't even really touched the xbox in a long time.
120GB HD
Evox on C, maybe a random file or two on E, everything else on F

Got Halo 2, remembered that I had been charged for another year anyway so I may as well sign on and play a few games, was banned within 24 hours.  So from my standpoint, any sort of "marrying" between any of my hardware was done a long long time ago.  Yes I had the chip off and I've never signed onto Live since I've had the chip in, until this last week.

Unless you're using an XBL blocking BIOS (X2 4981 (which is modernish)) then some games can login to Live at any time.

You were probably banned for a mundane reason

From my post in another thread...
"I got my Xbox when it was first released and also got Xbox Live when it was first released, modded my Xbox and changed to a 120GB HD around my join date to these forums 26-May 03 and have been on Live with the 120GB ever since. If they are just checking for changes in HD's I wonder when they started keeping record of your current HD."
NTSC Xbox 1.0 with Matrix modchip
Maxtor 120GB HD
C and E have extra files such as Evoxdash
Never been banned
Bios is old EvolutionX_V2.5_256k

Got Halo 2 last night and played online for a few hours and still not banned as of 12:27pm EST today.

My info for the topic

1. Bought Xbox Jan, 2003.  version 1.0
2. Bought live May 2003.
    A. Had all current updates
    B. Had 2.0 as soon as it came out.
3. Resubscribed to live May 2004.
4. Modded box August 2004.
    A. Xbit
    B. bios 4981, dash is evox 3935
         *went online with modchip off.
*had dash files on C. apps and such on E.
    C. 120 gb WD hd
         *full games on F.
         *account recovery
         *playing live fine
5. Bought Halo 2
    A. Modchip off no single player yet.
    B. Update.
    C. Played live for 2 hours.
6. BANNED next day.
7. Tried stock HD
    A. Still no live, says can't connect as usuall.

I hope this timeline will help to figure out their method so we can put it in the past and play live once again!!!

I think as of march 8th(release of 2.0), the marriages began.

I suppose I also should have mentioned that no ethernet cables have been plugged into the thing unless I was specifically going on Live.  It is way too far from the router to have a cable running across the house all the time.

I've posted this a couple times before, but I'll do it again if it helps you kids out.

  • Got my Xbox (v1.0) in Dec '02
  • Bought the Live kit at the same time, playing semi-regularly ever since I've had it
  • Modded my system in June '04 with the following eqpmt:

    • Xecuter 2.3B Lite
    • 200GB Western Digital HD
    • Did all my formatting, setup, drive locking, etc with Slayer's disk (did it on OEM HD, then FTP'd it's contents to my PC, then FTP'd all of that back to the new HD)
    • Running EvoX 4977

  • Auto login has been disabled since I did my mods
  • Always leave the network cable plugged in, even when chip is on, just have enough sense to not go online while it's on
  • Got Halo 2 at ~7:00PM ET on 11/9, been playing the crap out of it online since then; probably on and offline over a dozen times since Tuesday, and as of 11:00PM ET last night, still not banned

Just FYI, on Day #5 and still not banned.

From what I've seen I'm almost the only person on here who has swapped HDD's after going on Live for the first time and has not been banned despite never changing EEPROMs or anything.  Weird, eh?

Maybe they didn't start logging until after June 04

Since someone else above you posted they modded in august and got banned.

So were there any updates to live even small ones between June and August 04?

I've edited the marriage theory post to refute the "account recovery" theory, so at least your ban wasn't totally in vain smile.gif
