Soft Mod To "c Restore" Am I Ok For Live?

I got a 007 gamehack, did a "C Restore" at my friends house but got a DNS error when accessing live. Im not sure if thats because it isnt hooked up right though. He can play XBConnect ok. Is it because ok the files on the hdd?

Are Softmods ok for live. I did the backup restore but i might still have evox files on there because when i modded i backed up in iTools, and after installed Slayers Evox.

Any help is welcome. Is the cant connect DNS blah blah error linked to modded xboxs or is it just that it couldnt connect?
