It's great that slyt has been up and running for 72 hours but we can't be certain that he won't get a ban in a couple of months time. M$ seems to have banned people on 9th Nov who had swapped their HD months before.

QUOTE (b4m @ Dec 15 2004, 05:01 PM)
I've had to replace xbox's a few times while still playing on XBL. If you log all your XBL settings off of one box and put them on another xbox, you get the message that "your gamertag can only be accessed from this xbox console." If you delete all of your xbox live tags off of your modded xbox and do an account recovery on a stock xbox. Then upgrade your HDD on your modded box, can you not just do an account recovery on your modded xbox and get your old gamertags back. Or does M$ marry your gamertag to more than one EEPROM/HDD? I'm stuck with an X3 on my xbox with a stock HDD and I don't want to lose all my stats for H2. So if anybody has tried this or knows that it would work please let me know. Thanks

There's no restriction on transfering accounts between Xbox's. However, when you do an account recovery on an Xbox it invalidates copies of that account on any other Xbox. This is a security precaution - if you suspect someone at a LAN party copied your account onto their Xbox whilst you wern't looking, you can do a recovery to prevent them from using it.

If you want to have your account on two Xbox's simultaneously, then you need to use a memory unit (don't buy the ripoff official version) or a USB Pen Drive and an Xbox->USB converter.

Finally, be aware that there is a possibility that the account used when banned from XBL is flagged for extra HD checking.

I have been banned three times and so I figured I would take the advice off of this board. So I got a new eeprom,Hard drive that has never been used online, and a brand new gamertag. It worked fine for 4-5 days than I got banned.I only played Burnout 3.It seems to me that somehow MS is doing something else besides the marriage theory.I think what I might so do next is just buy an xbox and use on just for online purposes or I may try getting an 8-10 Gig Hard drive and go that route.Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been reading everyone's different theories on what is happening on XBL.  I have come across I believe is a fix for ppl that have been banned with original HDD still installed.

I was banned originally by turning on my mod chip by accident and going onto XBL and of course I was banned right away.

I bought an EEPROM off of someone on ebay, I reformatted the EEPROM, had to do an account recovery of course and I was back on XBL.  Well for the night anyway.  I logged on the next day after work and sure enough I was banned again.  I thought that the EEPROM I bought was sold to someone else therefore I was trying to log on XBL while someone else was logged on with the same EEPROM.

So, I then got another EEPROM I know for sure wasn't being used by anyone else, reformatted the EEPROM logged on and I was on XBL once again.  Same thing happened after work the following day I was banned again.

I read on one of the forums that you may need a new GT.

So, once again got another EEPROM, reformatted the EEPROM logged on with a new GT using 2 month free subscription.  And once agian I was back on XBL.  I played last night and then tried again this morning 9 hours later and I was still on XBL.  I am going to go home tonight and try it again, but crossing my fingures I think it will be OK!!!

To me it sounds like you definitely need a new EEPROM and a new GT and you will be back on XBL.

I will send another post tomorrow on whether I am still on, but so far so good.

If you have a mod chip, just do not turn it on while loggin in to XBL or yes you will be banned and if you read my above comment then you should be able to get back on.
I told my buddy with regards to the banning and he tried it 2 days ago with his mod chip off and he got the XBL Halo 2 update and he played that day and yesterday with out any problems.

We are going to play tonight as well to verify what I have said so far.

Remember though both my buddy and I do not have a new HDD, we still have the original.

mine had the original as well, but i guess besides the marrage theory there is no other reasonable explanations for being banned when you know as a fact you have your modchip off and you have not changed any hardware what so ever befor you signed onto live. the only thing you can really do is go on xbl...if you get banned you get banned theres nothing you can do about it

Hey guys,

You have suggested that Marriage Theory is based on an EEPROM and HD-KEY or some indentifier for the Hard Drive, but due to the fact that MS have stated that you are allowed to take your Live Account anywhere (IE. to any xbox via an official mem card), surely they can't use either of those details, as they would be unique to any xbox you move your account to?   My xbl account resides on three xboxes, only one of which is actually mine anymore, the other two belong to friends who use live successfully, and we have all kicked each other offline by signing in and taking over the tag until the other signs in again.  (Almost a worth £40 per annum, in itself!!!)

I may have missed something very basic in what you have said so far, but if I haven't then marriage theory sounds like it's definately not going to be the case.

Let me know if I have been brutally retarded or not!  Cheers!

thats the thing, even though your gamer tag is on 3 xboxes, wether modded or not each hard drive is represented by the eeprom of that specific box so inturn the mariage theory can very well be the case and most likely is, for most of us anyway

Hi Gumba

I've believed your theory since you posted the marriage theory the first. so I could back to XBL by using stock HDD and new eeprom. I appreciate that. then now, I'm gonna try to change them to new 200G HDD(not used) and new eeprom(not used before too.). Do you think I'm gonna success? I want you to tell me something to help me before my trying.
