QUOTE (Gumba @ Nov 13 2004, 09:33 PM)
There have been plenty of people who have been banned with stock disks precisely because they thought it would be a better idea to downgrade their harddisk

If I was you, I would leave the 80GB as it is

Can anyone else back this up?

nice! thanks

that'd be another confirmation on the marriage theory

If Live 2.0 started to log that info, anyone who's modded or changed eeprom or hd before 9/12/2004 should be ok as long as they dont change drives or eeprom now.

2003.

that's a long way back... but other info suggests a different date for when they started recording the marriages.

some screwed up shit... X_x

Just added this to the first post

Account Recovery Addendum:
There is a new addition to Marriage Theory floating around which says that when you do an account recovery the harddrive+eeprom marriage details are recreated. Basically, if this were true it would mean you could upgrade your HD after first going onto live by performing the upgrade, then deleting your account (its at the bottom of the memory display in the dash), then recovering the account.

Now, this has not been strongly confirmed, so if you are in the situation where you *think* you will be banned you have nothing to lose and may as well try it.

not because they downgraded to the stock hdd. but the because the fact that they downgraded to a hdd that was different from what the xbl database had.

Everybody has forgotten that the actual version of XBL is 3.0 and not 2.0 ! An upgrade to 3.0 (codename "Tsunami") was done in April 21th 2004 !!!

http://xbox.ign.com/...8/508307p1.html

It's with 2.0 and 3.0 XBL that MS has started collecting informations from modded xbox

dzv,

actually, i didnt misunderstand the locking process.  i just didnt know?  smile.gif  i'm trying to learn about anything and everything involved in this process, including the locking process, eeproms, and other ascpects.  thanks for letting me know.

question for you since you seem to know a quite a bit.  can a switche (or multiple switches) be installed in between each particular pin on a chip, or would that degrade signal? or just not work as a protective measure either?

How many people have reported this working? This would be an easy way to get on live if you decide to upgrade your hard drive instead of purchasing a new eeprom. Sounds a little to good to be true to me.  dry.gif

I got a xenium, stock bios
120gb hd (I bought it more than 8 months ago)
I was reciving the "xbox live not found" error, so I repalced my eeprom, then live worked, and I was on live for about 2 months until my subscription ran out.  My question is will M$ ban me?

can config magic be iso'd and run from disc?

also, i have a virgin box.  gonna use my solderless adapter (didnt use it on modded box) on that, and just swap my chip to unlock the drive.  if i took that virgin drive that has no unsigned code, not even a dash on it, and then ran the hdd wizard from the xos , does it REFORMAT the whole drive and then transfer the partitions and files?  if so, when i do that then the 20gb drive i got from someone SHOULD appear as stock, correct?  i also want to do this on my previous stock hdd (the one i was originally scanned with before i upgraded the drive).  i know i wont be able to use that one on live, but couldnt hurt to have it that way.

Yes it does

I've seen a number of people who *should* be banned according to Marriage Theory but aren't, one of the common traits is they used Account Recovery.

At this point I would treat this 'theory' as rampant speculation (Account Recovery, not Marriage Theory)

But if you're in the situation where Marriage Theory says you will get banned, then you should try it... and if it works... hey, isn't that cool smile.gif

Summer... that's like June right?

smile.gif

(I'm in the southern hemisphere wink.gif)

Anywho, either that means they weren't recording HD/EEPROM marriages then, or the account recovery theory actually has some validity... or something else smile.gif
