Many Banned People Not Going To Get Back On Live?
« on: November 10, 2004, 09:06:00 AM »

Yeah agreed. I really don't see what good this can do to MS... they're not stupid so i just don't know what I'm overlooking.

Being allowed to join live was one of the things that would encourage many modders to actually buy a copy of the game..so they're gonna lose those sales and the sales of live subscription and then there's the loss on people buying new xboxes (who will still have their old chipped one anyway).

Anyway.. i never used live that much. I think mine expires in couple of week and I won't be continuing. Anyone know if they'll charge me for another year unprompted by me and if i actually have to cancel mysubscription?

From what I can tell, you only get banned if you swap your HD *after* you first go onto XBL with a given Xbox.

Sooo, if you're planning to upgrade an Xbox's HD, you need to do it before you first connect it to XBL.

This means that you don't need to use two HDs.

But if you didn't do your upgrade before you signed on to XBL with that Xbox the first time, then you should sell your pre-modded Xbox, and remod another one.

Do you remember exactly when you changed your EEPROM tiny? There's a theory that MS didn't start collating EEPROM and HD Serials until March so any changes before that and you may be safe... not sure how likely that is really. Interested myself as last changed my EEPROM in January..won't be able to see if I'm banned till Sunday though.

Before the first wave of october bannings, it was the consensus that MS was just trying to keep cheaters off live, not ban modders... now it seems to be a different story.  I doubt they care because of all the new sales.  Also it seems they may be 'cutting their nose to spite their face'

ok... everyone who got banned and dont bother to get back to LIVE go write an official mail to MS and ask your money back for LIVE... cause you were not allowed to use a service you payed for... and for example the xbox live starter kit doesnt state that you are only allowed to go LIVE with a virgin box... and give your games back for the same reason... i think it aint legal to not give you the service you payed for without pointing out that you arent allowed to use the service...

I don't have it infront of me, but I'm sure the service agreement states that you can't use modified xboxes.

As for me, I haven't gone on Live yet, will upgrade my HDD first, then go on with the free trial.  If they ban me, screw them, gonna just use xlink kai.

Gumba I was going to agree with you since I DID change from my 120gb to my 200gb, but the post below yours just adds fuel to the mix.
