So I bought Halo 2 today, went to fire it up, and got the dreaded could not connect, possibly modified hardware, etc message. I never had the French Halo 2, so I don't think that's it. I do have a 200GB HD in there.

My question is how we know we have been banned permanently though. I have read that some people are getting emails saying that their account has been cancelled, as of now I have no such email. I still have my original HD and will try throwing that back in to see if it will let me back (maybe I'm not banned for good?) but I'm not too optimistic. Thanks a lot MS.
