Cannot Connect
« Reply #15 on: November 10, 2004, 11:27:00 AM »

Update to my previous post:

I was on tech support with MS for over an hour trying to get this thing to work. I had to end the call before they were able to find a solution (I had somewhere to go). Later that night, I decided to create a new account to see if that would fix the problem. Sure enough, I was online playing Halo 2 on my new gamertag immediately. So I tried deleting my old gamertag and doing an account recovery. I was able to recover the account, but I still experienced the same problems.

I'm going to call MS today and see what happened to my account. I'll post updates when I get them.

This doesnt seem to be the same thing as me, because I tried to do a create new account and also recover, it still says network error

Network Error

Could not connect to Xbox live. Check these possible options:
-If connected to router, make sure MTU is 1365 or higher
-If connected to PC make sure connction sharing is on
-Your ISP may require addition steps to connect

here is my error. is this yours?

If you've been on the phone with MS, you've probably done all this before, but you can always try it again.

1. Connect your XBox directly to the cable modem
2. Disconnect the power to your cable modem
3. Turn off your XBox
4. Wait 3 minutes
5. Reconnect the power to your cable modem
6. Wait until the cable modem has finished it's connecting cycle
7. Turn on your XBox with nothing in the DVD drive (and mod off)
8. Go to the Settings menu
9. Go to the Networking menu
10. Select the Connect button at the bottom
11. Allow the connection cycle through
12. Press the Y button on your controller
13. Press the A button on your controller
14. You should now have a window with 3 lines
15. Check your values

 IC:x
 MT:x
 NT:x

IC and MT should be at 1 and NT should be at 1, 2 or 3. For more description about these values, go here.

If your values are different from those, you may want to contact your ISP and find out why.

I dont know if im banned or not, but im getting a network connection error.  Never had a problem before today and never used the modchip on.  this is strange.

If u r useing PPPoE than simply go to network settings and ENABLE ur PPPoE settings as it is being AUTO DISABLED after 24h non xbox usage (xbox has NOT been used in last 24h) because of the XBL Blocking BIOS (@ least I noticed for me)!!

Ever since I started having this problem (can't connect to xboxlive, etc), I also can't FTP to my XBox!!! Is anyone here having a similar problem...?

I think M$ might *really* be messing with any modded xb they detect...

Thanks,
  Mark

If you cannot FTP to your xbox, check all your settings as usual (post more info on your set up, and if you were able to ftp before ect.)

If you can connect to your xbox through FTP, and cannot connect to live: you are banned.  Avalauch was able to connect to the news and DL programs, And Live was able to resolve DNS and IP, but cannot connect to live itself.  Also there were no changes to my set up at all. THIS MEANS BANNED!!

I change my eeprom and hard drive and guess what? Oh my! I can connect to live! WOW thats amazing!
