ATTENTION: Solution For Xbox Live Bannings
« Reply #300 on: December 26, 2004, 01:48:00 AM »

I'm pretty new over here, but am grateful this board exists. It's great to see people helping eachother over here  smile.gif

I want to give the outlined method in this topic a try too, to get unbanned again.

I have a few questions though, before making an attempt:

1) I want to get on xbox live again with my old banned GT. If I change to a original stock HDD with unbanned EEPROM and all original files on my HDD again, can I get back on xbox live??

2) What if I want to get unbanned with my old GT, but also with my old savegames on the banned HDD, can I copy those savegames to the new stock/unbanned HDD again, after I get on xbox live succesfully??

The most important part for me is to get unbanned with my old GT on a modded xbox. If I can get back on xbox-live again with my old GT, I don't need a larger HDD. Hope someone can give me that last bit of information, before I screw up again sad.gif

Needed to add my experience here as this is the only method that has worked to get my 120gb back on live.  Here are a couple things I have tried after being banned for switching out my HDD back in Oct.:
1. Using banned large HDD, Flash in new eeprom - banned withing 12 hours
2. Reconfigure sectors on banned large HDD using blank disk.bin, flash new eeprom, recover OLD gametag - banned withing 12 hours
3. Reconfigure sectors on banned large HDD using blank disk.bin, flash new eeprom, create NEW gametag - banned withing 12 hours.
3. Reconfigure sectors on banned STOCK HDD using blank disk.bin, flash new eeprom, create NEW gametag - this worked for about two weeks until I wanted my large HDD back, so I did the following:
4. Backed up disk.bin (with unbanned account info) and drive partitions from unbanned STOCK HDD, reconfigured banned LARGE HDD using the valid disk.bin from my stocker, FTP'd drive partitions, flashed new eeprom, transferred account from memory card - banned within 12 hours.
5. About a week ago I put in a brand new 120gb HDD, did a F: install using Slayer's 2.6, flashed new eeprom, created new account, and I've been good ever since.  I did the Halo2 update yesterday and I'm still on this morning, so I figure I'm good.

1. The general concensus is that you'll be ok using your old gametag and a stock drive.  I can't say for certain as I've never done it.

2. Your save data has nothing to do with your live account.  You can back up your TDATA and UDATA folders on your E:\ and transfer them to the new drive.

Thanks bro. What if I try out your method nr. 5 and first get on live again with a stock HDD and my old GT and then swapping to a larger HDD (with files from stock HDD copied to large HDD)?

IMHO You'll get banned.  Other people have been successful though.

Here are some helpful threads:
HDD Key Theory
Marriage Theory
Marriage/Local Marriage Theory
It's a long read but informative.  It's really hard to say what's going on.  As you can see from my post, things that have worked for others don't work for everybody.  All you can do is read the threads on the board and try to make an informed decision.

Right now this is the only fool proof way not to get banned, other than having a second unmodded XBOX dedicated to live.

I was banned for switching my HDD to a larger one but did not change the eeprom. I got a new eeprom, new WD250gig drive and a new GT. I used the F: install from Slayers (stealth) and have been successfully on live for 2 days now.

XBOX v1.0
Xecuter3
Western Digital 250 gig
New Gamertg
Slayers F: boot Install (stealth)

Just to add my bit :

I have been running an xbox with a chip (switched off) on Live for ages, all the rest of the machine is as MS intended it. Ie original HDD etc.

One day (after a few beers) i switched the xbox on only to find I was banned (turns out I left the chip on - clever)

Luckily for me I had another EEPROM , which I installed and was back on Live , for about 12 hours when i got banned again. I'm presuming this is because I didnt change my HDD over to an unseen "virigin" model ?

Anyway thats my story.
