ATTENTION: Solution For Xbox Live Bannings
« Reply #75 on: November 09, 2004, 07:17:00 PM »

OK guys,

I have used this method for the second time and it worked again.
Well at least so far,
I've been on Live for 17 hours now and everything is working fine.

Just a recap, I got a hold of a new eeprom (thanx again Cloaked) and a new 120 gig WD HDD. And a new Live account....
I just took a break from some Halo2 deathmatch action to fill you guys in.

As for those who ask:
"What about me? I was banned in the past and got my xbox unbanned by using the old eeprom swap method and everything was working fine last time I checked. I since then closed my Xbox Live account, well before "ban day". I want to know if I'll get banned if I open a new account?"

Well peeps, I got a friend who's caught in this scenario.
Tonight he will open a new Live account, I'll let ya'll know how it goes....

I am not sure how one would go about doing this, but I feel that untill the people ,who failed...following all the the step...EXACTLY, post up and explain...than it should be acknowlaged that there is a 90% success rate.  Just until those people fess up.  Even better if they admit not completly adhering to the full procedure.

I say 90 becuase I can't recall if some did "fail" with the exact procedure or not.

I found this link in another thread. I decided to post it here just because it agrees exactly to what I have been saying for the past three weeks. Just a little extra proof.

That article is really old

I just ordered a new harddrive from ebay for .99 cents. I will tell you guys if this method worked for me. It sounds like it should work, its more than likely overkill tho. Im sure in a matter of weeks we will be able to just change a certain file or serial in our HD that will fix the problem, but until then, nice work guys. I cant believe all of this was posted within a day of the incident. M$ aint got nothin on us.

I sincerely hope so. I went to sign on today to play some Halo 2 multi (I have the retail copy)  and found out I was banned  sad.gif

This sucks.

If anyone is curious, here is my setup and situation:

Xbox V1.0
120GB Maxtor drive
Xenium ICE
I only have 2 bioses - 4034 (original xbox bios)
and Xecuter 2 4983 (blocks live)

I had XBL with my old setup (non-modded box, stock HD), and despite the fact that I changed HD's, I've been able to sign in as recently as Sunday (to play ESPN NFL 2K5).

Damn you MS! I want my Halo 2!  mad.gif

Before I do anything, I'm going to run by what I'm planning to do (because there is no way they're going to stop me and this city's first sold copy of Halo 2)

Right now I have a WD2500 (250gigs) which was banned with the current eeprom.  I also have the stock harddrive which I originally used to start my Xbox Live Account.  So basically, if they did keep track of hard drives, I entered Xbox Live with my stock and my new one.

What I intend to do is aquire an eeprom for my Xbox, reformat the stock hard drive with the slayers disc (to retail of course).  Then, with my one of my 2 Month Free Trials, create a new GT (with the same Credit Card info as my old GT mind you) and see where I go from there.  I will transfer absolutely nothing from my old hard drive at all.  I will try to make it as close to "unmodded" as I can.  Maybe even rip out the modchip (good thing it's solderless) just to be extremely safe.

If anyone sees anything fishy that you know I'll fail, please tell me so I'll know.  Once I hear some opinions about this, I guess I'll find someone who has a 1.1 unbanned eeprom lying about.

I would like to know the answer to this as well, as this is exactly what I will do. My question is on the HD serial #. If indeed MS is checking this, will formatting with Slayers generate a new serial # if we try to reformat an old HD that has been used before on Live? I am in the all too familiar boat of having hacked my box, gotten on Live, upgraded the HD and am now banned. I;m concerned that Live will know this HD. I'll see what config magic says after trying Slayers. If it's the same I'm not going to waste my new eeprom on this until I know it will work.

I'd love to try this, got my old stock XBox HDD, the slayers install disc burnt, and I'm just missing a fresh EEPROM.

Well I bit the bullet and went with my original HD. So far so good. I reflashed eeprom, made a new gamertag and got online without incident. Others have reported getting back online only to be banned later, but I think that was all with the larger HD. We'll see how this goes, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Now I have to work on making an ugly external dual HD arrangement. As if the Xbox wasn't ugly enough... thanks again MS.

Do you have any non-standard files e.g. EvoX, XBMC on your HD?

I'm getting a new EEPROM and reformating my old stock HD, which has been on live before. It will be interesting to see if my old drive got flagged even though I was banned whilst using my new HD. They might have tracked HD changes, noted both serial numbers, then delayed the ban until Nov 9th.

I am interested.... what is the procedure for replacing them? Just swap? or?

I'm gonna try this as soon as i get home from work.  i guess I'm the only one who didn't sell their old hd?  hahaha.  The EEprom should still be good on the original HD, right?  that wasn't in when I got banned.
