so if ur using xbox live and ur unbanned, that means a bigger hd is not a issue. any got a spare xbox 1.4 eeprom for my mate because i only got a spare 1.1 eeprom, dont think that will work in his 1.4.

Yeah, I was wondering about those five failures as well. Obviously just people who didn't follow the steps quite exact enough, especially because none of them posted with their results.

(v1.6 xbox, xenium ice, with the M8 bios <damn xecuter for not getting an x2 bios out for the 1.6 yet>)
First banning was a stupid move by me.  Chip was on, playing something from the HD, and was busying talking while the game was loading.  Hit the screen that asked if I wanted to sign into xbox live, and clicked on through.  Whoops.  Banned.  Fair enough, I did everything wrong.
Been reading through tons of these posts the last couple days.
New eeprom, New large HDD (Hitachi 160GB).  Formated the partitions C, E, and F (nothing installed on F)  Restored base files on C and E.
(From here on mod chip always was disabled)  Recovered gamertag.  Played PGR2, Rallisport 2 (downloaded free content), SW Battlefront, and ESPN NFL 2005 off and on yesterday.  Was shutting down the xbox inbetween tests.   I had did the recovery around 10am CDT, and last played online last night around 11pm CDT.
Logged on this morning and was banned.
Me thinks MS is processing some data back at the mothership overnight.  Otherwise wouldnt you expect the second time I logged on the box would have been banned if it was the large hard drive or something?  The only things not stock was the hard drive and the fact I had formatted the F.
*Note:  orginial eeprom was v1.6 NTSC Region 1.
New one was v1.6 PAL Region 4.
Used ltools (xtools)  and my xenium to convert the Game region to 1 and the video mode to NTSC.

Trying to decide course of actions:  Have a second xbox, which has never been on live.
Recover gamertag and see what happens?
New gamertag and large (Seagate 200G) hard drive?
New gamertag and stock drive?

IMHO: I dont think they do anything to the gamertag, but who knows.  Was hoping to be on Live with Halo 2 tomorrow night (or is that technically morning?).

i also need some help (may get boring the life stroy of my xbox jk)

back in march i got a 2month free trial and got banned on my stock harddrive
since then ive got a new 120gb locked hardrive with the same eeprom

if i get a new eeprom tomorrow and use my friends gamertag to test if live works and i get banned does that also mean that when he uses his gamertag on his xbox again will get banned on his non-modded xbox

another question can i use an NTSC eeprom on a PAL xbox

thanks for any help

I don't in any way mean to be bringing any negativity to this thread, but how is this going to prevent future bannings from happening.  Becuase isn't basically what your saying what we all did in the first place when we first modded our xboxs?  Won't we just get rebanned on a future sweep or once we install/do what it was that set off the ban?  Shouldn't we figure out what the new cause of the bans are?

Thanks for having a temp solution though.  If no one is able to figure out what is causing it I'll probably give it a go in the next few weeks.

Ok, thought i'd throw my 2 cents worth in.  Had a 120gig hdd in my xbox.  Accidently opened a live aware game with the chip on = banned.  Changed eeprom, recovered account = banned.

Swapped the xbox for an unmodded one plus a bit of cash and aquired another stock xbox from a friend.  So now i have 2 stock box's.

Recovered account on friends xbox 2 weeks ago and still on.

Next step is gunna be to mod and upgrade my new xbox and try and recover my account on it.  So it's a brand new xbox, with a brand new chip, brand new hdd.

Anyone see any flaws in what i'm tryin?

According to testing and theories of members of this forum, this will result in banning because of the larger hard drive.  The collective thinking is that M$ checks for stock hard drive once your GT has been banned at least once.  (however some poeple have done similar things and managed not to get re-banned, so you never know)  If I was you and I really wanted to have a larger HD, i would buckle down and get a new GT.
