Make sure you use a cd-rw not cdr.  None of the xbox dvd drives read cdr (I know a select few drive can read a few select media brands, but thats it)

my slayers 2.6 and x-disk 1.0 are both on cd-r and have been read perfectly....are you sure about your info on that one?

my original xbox sammy reads anything and everything not matter what media ive used thus far has worked fine, and when making boot disks ive never used a dummy file ever

this is plain stupid, after readin a whole bunch off shit, it seems slayers disk get's ppl banned with their disk within 24hours...

because if you format it with slayers disk, it will be using a .bin file off the disk, with another hdd-key then your own hdd-key on your retail hdd disk.....

so concluding, your disk will be formatted and locked with an invalid/ or already banned key!!

i don't say i'm 100% right, but i believe you all need to read more before taking any actions......because if you lose your original retail disk hdd-key, you can't easily get a new working registered one to get on live again!!!

offcourse all steps off this solution guide are correct, because you need to remove every non proper files on C and E, and put them on F where the original bios can;t find em!!!

Don't think this is correct. The disk.bin on the slayer disc is empty.

Anyway, the disk.bin does not contain a HD-key (as far as I know) , the EEPROM contains the HD-key.

So if you use your own disk.bin, I think M$ will at least see your flagged gamertag and do extensive HD-search/checks/whatever..

If you use the disk.bin from the slayers disk, it is like using a 'virgin' disk.bin (never been on LIVE).


So, I don't think using the slayers disk.bin will get you banned. Heck, I even think using your own will get you banned earlier (because of the flagged GT).

Could the pro's give their opinion about this (what disk.bin to use). Linox?? Angerwound??

There's some people in here who have been up for over a month now.
Both on upgraded HDD's and retail HDD's (using Slayer's 2.6).
I for one have been up for about a week now on an upgraded HDD.
I expect to be online for as long as I don't screw up and forget to turn my chip off. Or when M$ decides to scan "every" Live account for upgraded HDD's....

Until then, I'll be having a blast playing Halo 2 online....

Same here - Slayer's worked fine on my stock HD, been going since 12th Nov.

Don't knock slayer's.  It works fine for so many people. I have been up on live for almost a month now after using slayers with NO problems.  I think many people have used slayers, and got it working, so they havent been to the scene in a while because they dont have any problems. I dont know why I got Initially banned, but I speculate it was tons of non-stock files all over C and E.  The main problem is, people are not fixing the reason they get initially banned, and get re-banned.  I think this thread is the best (and definately a proven) solution for getting back on live.

Backup all your savegames. Choose option
     3b2) RESTORE RETAIL XBOX HD TO FACTORY

which does a complete format of c,e,x,y,z and copies only the files found on a retail HD. It installs the 5960 dash. It also uses a blank disk.bin file so all "cookies" on the HD will be erased. I'm assuming you are using a retail HD.

Well, this thread hasn't had much action for a while...
Hopefully that's a sign that people are learning more and finding it easier to become unbanned.
Personally, I've been unbanned for exactly 49 days (seven weeks) as of tonight.
Congratulations to those who have beaten MS to the ground by getting unbanned without having to purchase a new Xbox, and Good Luck to those still fighting!

Even if you do all those step your going to need a different credit/debit card...  I recommend using a relative because you can probably be flagged again.

Almost 24 hours later and still going!

I did use a different credit card just in case it was a factor. But I kept the same address because I assume it needs to match the credit card billing address.

I enjoy the ease of use and speed of starting a game better with Xlink Kia and Ava/XBMC. But, there is a different selection of playing locations and the speech works better on Xbox Live.

Just my thoughts.
