ok i have a question here as in the topic i have a new starter kit for 12 months of live and want to know if i can go onto live using the chip with my original M$ bios.

theres been some talk here that made me think it would work then some that just confused me and all i want to do is play on live for halo2!

my tsop is screwed, how i dont know but it runs fine with  the chip on

any help in this ? going to buy a new x3 soon for the extra bios storage, if it does not work i can just switch mother boards but it would save me some time with using a chip instead

I'm wondering the same thing. I installed a  Xecuter 2.3 chip into my friends chip and it will not disable. He wants to get on xbox live, so I was wondering if I could put the original m$ bios on bank 2 and he can get onto live that way.

yes. i think its possible or then. it was possible it does not seem like anyone has tried it though...

and for your friends xbox" you should be able to turn off your chip and boot the xbox without it as long as your M$ dash is named xboxdash.xbe and if not maybe you have a problem like i do a messed tsop, its weird it just stopped working one day but what are you gona do?

i just would like to know before hand instead of having to swap the MB, and most likely having to format my hard drive and my friends.

unless theres some kind of hotswap trick i can pull off

Just to let you know, it is not because there is no m$ dashboard. The chip will actually not disable, he can change banks and switch between protected and unprotected. But when you try to disable it, it has no affect, like you didn't flip the switch to disabled.

I had to do this when the newest update for xenium ice killed my TSOP.  I just dl'd v.5838 of the M$ bios and flashed it as i did Evox M8.  Live still works....  lost track how long now... more than 2 months.

I'm guessing it's  the same for xecuter.  As long as you boot retail bios, and no sign of you being banned before, youre fine.

Also, make sure you have the proper version of the M$ bios for your xbox.

ah i see im going to just swap parts get a good tsop, but the big question now is will i be able to renew my account, i had xbox live once half way through it my credit card expired and it lasted till the 12 months were up,

now im wondering if i can just put in the new subscription code with acocunt recovery or something and start playing live again!

It has to work. M$ solders modchips on LPC to refurbished Xboxes. I'm not sure about it, but I think they do xD.

How do you know that? LPC is basically designed for debugging- you can meet the LPC bus in many Intel mobos and one of the usages of it is to connect other bios devices quickly and easily. If the TSOP or some traces leading to TSOP are burnt, it's the best way to solder a chip and ground d0, to launch bios from alternative device. And I think that M$ does it if they Xboxes broken like that. They won't just throw away a mobo with expensive CPU, GPU and MCPX. At least- I wouldn't.
