1. Disable Auto Connect in your settings on the MS Dash.

Was disabled

QUOTE
2. Always make sure your mod chip is off before going on-line(duh.)

Of Course !

QUOTE
3. Most importantly, before you load up any game, back up or not, with your mod chip on, UNPLUG YOUR NETWORK CABLE

Didn't unplug the network cable, but did ban the ports on my router.  I had tested this before & it does block live from connecting out.

As i said, got banned.  Got new eeprom & was back on last night.  Banned again today.

As was mentioned in one of the other thread, m$ themselves have said they are tracking ppl who have been banned before.

Some ppl have said HD, but other ppl have mentioned that they have replaced the stock HD & still got banned, so don't think it's that.

I had formatted my xbox, put xbox dash & evox back on & only 2 games.  Both i have on original & had tried both of them last night on live & they were fine.  There are no old saved games transferred back onto xbox either, i made brand new save games & didn't use my gamertag as the name for the save games.

To finish, i think that ppl who have to " hack " their save game / game to get better weapons / faster cars ect.... on live are loosers.  If u can't compete against other ppl around the world, without cheating, then u should just stay off live alltogether.  These ppl are ruining live for everyone else !

My gut feeling is that it's the GT too.

Some people are saying that it's a violation of something or other, but if you tried to do anything about it(besides that you will lose any case against ms)  they could easily counter that since you have violated the contract first, they had every right to ban your GT.

I read that someone else is trying to get on with a trial pass to make a new GT and see if that helps.  I can't wait for the results.

Okay, I didn't really want to make another speculation thread, more of a prevention thread, but here's another idea, for those who have been banned: maybe they are blocking Credit Card numbers?

this can't be stressed enough.  Cheaters on live are a bunch of fools.

The problem i see with it being the gametag, is that if u go out & buy a new xbox, leave it unmodded & go on live & oboviously you'll want to use ur old gamertag, i can't see m$ banning u again for that, can they ????

I plan on buying a new xbox just for live play, but want to make sure that i can use my old gamertag before i do !!

If anyone has tried using their old gamertag on a new unmodified xbox, can they let me know plz, preferably in this thread so other ppl can can see the result too.

In case you haven't read any of the threads on this forum, right now M$ is sniping out random people and nobody really knows why.  The worst part is, people even try changing their eeprom and all kinds of stuff afterwards, but still get banned again shortly after, while some people have had success that method and haven't been banned again.  The fact is, it's been different for everyone, and I'd put money on it that a certain recently leaked game is causing MS to do this. I don't know for sure, but maybe there is a correlation between people getting banned who obtained "leaked games" whether they have played them live or not.  Unfortunately, we can't talk about it here. There is also the issue of cheaters in certain games, this could be another cause of heightened security.  But I'm just speculating unsure.gif

It seems like the most we, us people who play on live and have modded xboxes, can do right now are these steps to prevent getting screwed.  If you still get banned while taking these precautions, then something truly $hitty is going down at M$.

1. Disable Auto Connect in your settings on the MS Dash.

2. Always make sure your mod chip is off before going on-line(duh.)

3. Most importantly, before you load up any game, back up or not, with your mod chip on, UNPLUG YOUR NETWORK CABLE.  There are theories right now that certain games get you banned by putting in some kind of flag, HD checker or for lack of a better term, spyware wink.gif

If anyone has anything else to add, or if you have been banned even after taking these three steps, please tell us.   We gotta stick together and fight the power!  tongue.gif  beerchug.gif

4. RTFF- Read The Fucking Forums

Duh, it's so hard to communicate with ppl sometimes sad.gif.

I have no idea.  none of us know what they can and can't do right now.  But if they wanted to ban gamertags, they easily could, and it would be a 100% accurate system for catching cheaters and modders, no doubt about it.  If they keep your credit card records, then they might even ban you all together, which would suck ass.  I don't know if that's legal though.

Curious about the logic here.  If some games were indeed installing some sort of "spyware," what difference does it make if you're unplugged or not?  It would simply call out as soon as you do connect, right?  Being unplugged would not prevent the game from noticing your modified hardware and implanting said flag.

A.Z.BEST® i agree..

Just to let some of u ppl that the resent banning has nothing to do with ppl who got banned have "THAT GAME" on their boxs.... i was banned twice in a week and didn't even know about "THAT GAME" till i came to the forums to try find out why i got banned..
NOW i do accecpt that the leaked game is the REASON for the bannings but not the ACTUAL ppl who got banned,, as proven by ppl in this an other posts.. if i did have "THAT GAME" i would have no reason to be screwing about bing banned twice....

So what i'm saying is that many of us are completly inosent but GOT BANNED !!!!

so the "banning game" idea may not fly 100%, but my point is that NOTHING is right now.  There's no rhyme or reason to it.  they obviously have different reasons for banning different people right now.  Some people have even eluded to Avalaunch causing a ban somehow, which sucks, I just switched to it and love it.

I'm just trying to say what I thought was the best way to prevent from getting screwed.

....should I just delete this thread or what? sheesh
