Why Banned?

QUOTE (GamezMan @ Oct 17 2004, 11:44 PM)
A.Z.BEST® ur english "is fine....  just fine" (said in a Cartman voice)...

I dont know why the admins are fussing about u talkina about H2, it NOT like ur saying u'v played it and telling ppl to download it  !!!

So A.Z.BEST® ur explanation is sounding more posible all the time... if true XBC an XLINK will be no good at all for ppl who use XBL, UNLESS M$ is doing illigal things...

So ur confident that its nothing to do with the new eproms but same MAC address ???

And to clarify we are saying ppl who got banned played these game with chip on AND NIC Cable CONNECTED,,, and not just chip on without NIC Cable connedted .....  arnt we ????

Thx smile.gif. But I understand and respect that ppl have to pretend that they know nothing about H2 tongue.gif. Ok, that's fine. I think that lordvader129 has read only my last post, not the main one. Just forget it.

About the MAC Adress; it lies also in EEPROM and as soon as you change the EEPROM, MAC changes also. I'm not 100% sure about it, but just open Config Magic, MAC adress is ready to edit, so it must lay in EEPROM...

And yes, we clarify that ppl who got banned had NIC cable plugged in, chip turned on- but the game could be original, it doesn't matter as far as the chip is on... It seems that all the people who got banned few times in a row got at least one of those games and did as I said. All other things, like TSOP split, modchip on LPC, changed HDD don't seem to match, cause there were ppl with almost stock Xboxes and they got banned too. I'll repeat; You can even play offline in one of those games, but when the cable is connected (and connection is set correctly), you'll most probably get banned. Fable doesn't seem to ban consoles.

Anyone wanting to send me a banned eeprom for 1.1? I can test outgoing connections from my Xbox, to prove it (or deny tongue.gif).

I checked swap partitions and I found nothing interesting. There was no *.xbe and I played Fifa 2005 with chip on (though without the cable) and I did not get banned after this. These games don't overwrite M$ Dash with any info and I think, even if may sound logically, it would be actually impossible at this stage that M$ Dash could spy our consoles. There must be something in these games... Maybe they put some flag. Gotta check it later today. Bye for now ;P.

OK, so it seems like we are seeing more and more new games that are 'spying' on our consoles and leading to bans.  These games apparently connect to Live completely without user permission or intervention.  Hopefully we can verify soon if this is true or not.

If this is indeed the case, then there are a few more questions I would like answered (by any of you who have experienced these recent bannings):

1.  Do those of you that were banned have Auto Sign In disabled?  It seems like these games are 'phoning home' even with Auto Sign In disabled.

2.  Will these new games communicate with Xbox Live even if the XBL account is password protected?  (do they communicate without even asking for the password?)

3.  Will these new games communicate with Xbox Live even if there is no XBL account on the HDD (eg. if you keep your account on Mem Card and uplug it when not in use)?

4.  If your Xbox is disconnected from the network when playing these new games with the chip on, do the games set a flag on your Xbox which will lead to a ban next time you connect to XBL?

I plan to do some testing of my own over the next few days, when I get some time.

1. It seems that they do.
2. If the answer for the first question is right, so the answer for this one is yes, as well.
3. Very hard to say. Possibly yes.
4. Don't know- in my opinion no, they don't set any flag, but some other bans lead to change mind...

----------

Time for my research results:
I used some IP resolver and IP logger (only for outgoing connections). I am very confused, I can't make any straight, sure conclusion. There were MANY, MANY, MANy outgoing connections to very unfamiliar IPs. I switched off every program which might cause movement in my network, but there's nothing sure about it at all. BUT I have few adresses, that may be interresting:

207.46.246.6- Mr. William and his friends in Redmond (WA) biggrin.gif
Yeah, it's the main XBL server. The box seeks for it at every first connection.

Don't know why, I've connected to IANA organisation few times (maybe I'm laming in this subject, so just leave it biggrin.gif). IANA is Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. Dunno what is it.

Few connections to Korea, Netherlands and few other countries, but NO MORE connections to 207.46.246.6 or any other IP of this ISP. It might also be some spyware installed on my computer wink.gif.

So I actually dunno what to say... Only that there has to be something in these games o_O. Maybe if I had a second pc, and one more xbox I could figure out some logical relationship between those IPs and Xbox connected to the internet.

If you are cleverer than me and you think you can find something here, try to do it the same way as I did. It may be very useful for all of us.

I was risking my EEPROM, and I'll probably get banned very soon, but I think I can find 80$ for another Xbox... Or simply don't sell the present one, when my Kasumi blue box arrives smile.gif.

When you play this game once- it bans you. My friend who got banned 2 times in a row... got banned 3rd time. He flashed the EEPROM with NIC cable unplugged, turn the chip off and went on Live. He was playing for few hours, and the next day he got banned again. He didn't make to turn on the chip again when he got banned again. That's pretty sick. If M$ is not scanning the HDDs in search for game saves, it is scanning them at least for the serial number and bans the console again if the HDDs s/n matches to the last EEPROM. That's my new theory about recent bannings.

I also know one guy who hasn't played any of those games yet, he's using chip and blablabla. He has only Unreal Championship, Rainbow Six 3 and one more game. Anyway; he DID NOT get banned as almost all the other ones, who have used one of the "dangerous" games.

And especially for you, Artist: I know few ppl who are holding ALL their homebrew stuff on F partition and they've got banned. How about that? And games surely don't switch on your Xbox at night :/.

So... the one and only thing that everyone of us has got is actually the M$ dash.

I think I saw somebody else suggest earlier in this thread or another related thread about scanning the save games.  I know I though M$ could bust people fairly easily by looking for saves on the hard drive by Homebrew apps like XMBC PxHDDLoader etc.

Think that's a possibility?

I been banned even with out playing a game. I got banned 2days ago. So i bought a new eeprom and I was back on LIVE, then today morning I was banned again. But in that time I haven't played any games, I did was use the XBMC and Avalaunch. So it cant be the games

I'm runing Xbit, 4981.06 X2 Bios. Xbox version 1.0

Finally someone else rational here. Thank You Knodi. HEY A.Z. THIS IS FOR YOU.....IT'S NOT THE GAMES FOR THE LAST TIME. We have ANOTHER PERSON HERE who has never played any of thes games but still gotten banned. Everyone should steer their investigating in another direction. IT'S NOT THE GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will most likely be banned tomorrow, based on current trends.
