Why Banned?
« on: October 17, 2004, 10:31:00 AM »

EA sport series 2005,
Star Wars Battlefront
and probably some more

Many, many ppl using those games has got banned. I think that M$ has learned something and even the newest X2 bioses don't help to prevent connecting to XBL servers. Disconnect the network cable from your console when playing the newest, backed up live titles and you'll not get banned.

It seems like these games connect automaticaly, without any user's permission. They can ask you to sign into the service and you can disagree, however they do connect to XBL and spy your console, if the plug is in.

It also seems like those games do automatical search for XBL while connecting to another Xbox thru System Link option. Why that? Because M$ knows that there are many ppl that use XBC/Xlink to emulate System Link and that they mostly use pirated games, playing on these. If the Xbox succesfully connects to the XBL servers, while trying to connect to another Xbox, it sends all the needed "ban data" to the server. Voila, so you get banned playing on XBC.

But these are only my stupid feelings about it wink.gif. Report if you haven't used any of the new XBL titles and you've got banned. It may be a clue, that my theory is mistaken or correct.

EDIT:

I have written this post, cause i were sick of hearing about LPC/d0/HDD detection ;P. See that the problem has started right after the wave of those new games and search the reason here.

I did not play any 3 of those before I was banned. I have SW:BF that I purchased, but have never played it with my chip on. I played NFL 2K5 the night before and everything was ok.

Be so nice and try to find the logical connection between FIFA 2005 and NFL 2005. These games are both made by EA and they're 2005 release... FIFA 2005 is spying, so does the NFL (as you said it) and most propably all the new games for season 2005 from EA.

So yes, your post is a proof that I'm right smile.gif.

Deathline; give me a banned EEPROM (for v1.1 would be best), I'm using ICS and I would even like to try to monitor what does the Xbox do...

I was banned twice in just over a week, and i did play battlefront maby both times on  XBC\KAI before the bans....

So we need all ppl who were banned to say what games they played and ppl whith new eproms who haven't been banned need to post and say if they used any of those game on XBC\KAI

ive recently been banned and yes, I have played battlefront from my hard drive via system link with my roommate.

Never played FIFA

Wouldnt this constitute as a illegal gathering of information?!?!?!  Once you purchase the xbox, you OWN it. Granted we ride the "grey" area from time to time though...

Have you been playing those games (even offline) while the chip was on?

There's only one of my friend who was playing Halo 2 on XBC and did not get banned. Hear now wink.gif. It's pretty interesting. He uses different network setting for the Xbox when connecting to the XBC and different for XBL. When he chooses right settings for XBC, he cannot connect to XBL (DNS stuff, i don't care now) and vice- versa. All the others got banned because they were using the same settings for XBL and XBC. You know why? Cause these new games try to connect to XBL servers while on try to connect to another Xbox (which may potentially be Xbox Connect).

Bingo ;P. I hope wink.gif.

well first off XBC and XBL are two ENTIRELY different services, using one cannot get you banned from the other

second, halo 2 is not out, anyone playin gon Live will surely be banned as they must have their modchip enabled to be playing their illegal backup

third, speaking of being banned any discussion of halo 2 results in an instant ban from these forums

While XBC and XBL are indeed two completely different services and one definitely has nothing to do with the other, a DNS setup for your xbox while the chip is on isn't a bad idea since we are assuming that the xbox contacts MS without your permission and thereby gets you banned. The DNS setup usually consists of taking whatever the names of the XBL servers are (e.g. XBLServ1.microsnot.edu) and pointing that to another ip address (127.0.0.1). Therefore, whenever your xbox asks the DNS server (usually your computer or your router depending on your setup) what the ip is for XBLServ1.microsnot.edu it gets told to connect to 127.0.0.1 which of course it will never get the correct response from since it will of course be trying to talk to itself. Thereby it won't be able to talk to MS cuz it can't find it.

I did not say that someone has been playing H2 or even tried to. And I know very well why it's not possible yet.

Sorry for the Halo 2. I've read all the sticked topics, but I didn't know that it's forbidden even at this range. Nothing more about it. NP.

And as you can see using the NEWEST XBL titles on XBC may cause a ban on Xbox Live. Maybe there's a problem with my english, if yes, try to read until you understand, or ask me again. I can ask someone better in english than myself to explain the topic.

I know exactly what's Xbox Connect and what's Xbox Live. I have Xbox Live and though I've never used XBC I know very well what it is.

A.Z.BEST® ur english "is fine....  just fine" (said in a Cartman voice)...

I dont know why the admins are fussing about u talkina about H2, it NOT like ur saying u'v played it and telling ppl to download it  !!!

So A.Z.BEST® ur explanation is sounding more posible all the time... if true XBC an XLINK will be no good at all for ppl who use XBL, UNLESS M$ is doing illigal things...

So ur confident that its nothing to do with the new eproms but same MAC address ???

And to clarify we are saying ppl who got banned played these game with chip on AND NIC Cable CONNECTED,,, and not just chip on without NIC Cable connedted .....  arnt we ????
