Using A Hub

ok i have a d-link router and i have a computer and xbox in my room n only one cable. i have to switch the cable back n forth when i want to play live. now i know you hant have 2 routers on one line but if i put a 5 port hub on it will it still work. will only some hubs work with live like the routers or will all hubs different.

Yes you can use a hub to split up that one line.  You would need to make sure that the hub has an UPLINK port, otherwise you may need to use a cross over cable to link the router and the hub.  Most hubs should be fine as long as they are rated for the same as the network connection you are using.  ie..  10 / 100 or Gigabit. Most newer ones are 10/100 and are autoswitching so as long as they are set the same should not be a problem.  Some older ones are 10/100 as well but must be manually switched between 10 and 100.
