Moving Overseas With North Amer. Xbox
« on: February 10, 2004, 01:38:00 PM »

Next week, I'm gonna be permanently moving from my happy gaming world in Vancouver to that distant, strange country of Australia. My current Xbox Live setup is coming with me (tv, Xbox, home theatre) as I have a power transformer. I figure that even if the tv doesn't get great reception (I also have a NTSC --> PAL converter), it's a 'closed system' so everything else should work well within the group.

The one thing I wonder is what my Xbox Live account will do. If you talk to M$ they naturally want you to buy a new box, new everything to work overseas. But is that true? If I log on with my Canadian Xbox and Candian Live account, will it not just work? If I'm on a broadband connection, can they tell whether or not I'm in Canada? Will I suffer nasty lag if I do it that way because I'm going through American M$ servers?

Does anyone know what I should do, or have had a similar experience?
