I think i recieved the xbox live 3.0 update today my dashboard is 5659 now.

It may be a new dash number, but it's not Live 3.0

Live 3.0 has a lot of new features, not just a new dash number

I dont think YOU and have as much privacy and as many rights as you think you do...

When you send an email to a domain like @hotmail.com, do they automatically run a virus scan on any attached files?  Yes.
Do they have your permission explicitly?  No.
Can you do a damn thing about it? No

You use their service; they can do as they please.  MS has permission to send and make you recieve certain updates required before you can run their service.  If one of their updates includes an addition of a file scanning program or code, then you have absolutely no control over that.  You pay for an updated service and you will get one.  You have absolutely no right to tell MS what you believe is the best way to keep their service hack free.

Afterall, if your Xbox is clean, why should it matter if they scan your files... it should only be game saves and media anyways.

Xbox Live is a privelidge, not a right.

If MS want to scan my files, let them. I have two Xboxes anyways...  biggrin.gif

No matter where you actually stand on the whole piracy issue, there are a few things that will always be the same.

Your going to have people who want everything for nothing.
Your going to have people trying to control what other people can or can not do, and what they have or don't have in life.

In America we have it pretty nice right now, but things are quickly and frighteningly changing and our freedoms are being stripped from us every day.

We are starting to see what other countries are talking about when it comes to Freedoms, and slowly we are seeing them taken away from us in America.

Privacy today is non exsistent if you allow your eyes to truely see what is happening today.

Phone taps, unlawful random searches and confiscations, e-mail spying, cameras in public, personal information being collected and used against ourselves by others, and our own stupidity in letting them get away with it and trusting that which lies and cheats to control what we do, say, see, and hear.

Modchips will always be a part of computer technology. Car modifications are done, even though they are illegal, computer modifications are not far off from this same area.

We do it becasue WE CAN people. Its not always about stealing, and freeloading off the software companies. It's about making something our own, different, unique in a world so screwed up with the idea that we all should be identical and robotic and mindless.

Tatoos, piercings, hair dye, clothing, cars, computers, all these things are image setters, and extensions of our inner selves.

Those of us know and respect each others differences, its what makes us so dam interesting. We know and respect the companies programming the games we love to play. Those of us know that we support them by purchasing their software,

modchip or not.

Those that freeload need to understand this, and respect this, and support the games you freeload, because if you do not, you will slowly kill off the one thing we all love, Gaming.

MS has an invested interest in holding some profit, and LIVE is all the profit they need. To cut and ban those people in those numbers, is utterly stupid.

So MS does exactly what everyone would do, they strike a comprimise.

Modchip users do not screw with Live, and MS doesn't screw with them.

You boot under a modchip and try to mess with Live, your banned, rightfully so.

I have always been scared of putting anything not MS on the C: partition.  So when I decided to get my Xbox modded I put my dashboards on stuff on F:  I know that one of these days MS may suprise everyone and scan C:.  Especially when the update any game or the dashboard.

With the X2 4980 or 4981 BIOS I am pretty confident that my xbox will not get banned, did some heavy testing when I installed that BIOS to see if I could connect to Live when the chip was on and it failed everytime.

If you use Live alot and don't want to worry about those things then download the XBTools and X2 4981 BIOS and move you dashboard over to F:.  It is a pretty easy process.

Online play or no, if a game is worth the buy, i buy it, i applaud all the programmer outs there and would gladly pay for a product that is well worth the $$$

true there are sumt hat arent very tempting to buy, either way, backing up files is the only reasong i see for a modchip, i have backed up all my games, i dont need a 300gig drive to do it...i buy games i like so a 40gig has MORE then enough space for me!

given all u homebrew guys may need to extra space..but...for all u people that go out and rent games and back them up and illigally steal programmer hard work WITHOUT paying, u need to be shot!

also, with M$ scanning my drive, they can all they want, i have nothing illigal on my box, so im not worried!

paying for software is the way its meant to be!

SUPPORT PROGRAMMERS, DONT RIP COMPANIES OFF CUZZ U ARE A CHEAP-ASS

get a friggen job, games arent even that expensive....
