Live Not Found
« on: January 19, 2004, 08:37:00 AM »

1.0 Xbox,
Modchip disabled,
dashboard was updated by splinter cell (i dunno which version that makes it),
HD locked,
everything in the network-settings is fine (using a router with static IP settings)

But I just can't connect to live. I get the following:
O Kabel hooked up
O IP-settings were made
O DNS is fine
X Xbox Live was not found

If I press Y on help, I get the following:

1.00.4920.01
X: 0000-000D
Y: 00AB-E800
Z: 0000-0000

So because Y2 is not starting with a "6", I assume I am not banned. But why can't I find live then?
Do I need to open any ports? Something else to think of? Or am I banned anyways?

Any help is appreciated.

I had this problem when i was banned
I got the xbox live not found error when i troubleshooted
But then i would also get
"modified xbox error"
If youve seen or have this error
Its probably because you have

Xbox live auto sign in on
Your network cable plugged in
and ejected your chipped xbox game with chip on
after playin
this WILL ban you

If youve not seen that error, then i cant help you

I know that the xbox live service has been having some problems over the past few days
Maybe its just part of there server period

I did not get a specific "banned" message and so i am a little confused.
Ill try a direct connect without my router, maybe that will help. Thanks Wild182!

I am having this problem too. Tried a direct-connect without my router, no dice. My cables are fine, Evox can get an IP and FTP just fine. :/

Think maybe MS is now looking for things other than the presence of an active modchip?

I'm in the same boat, apparently. Everything looks fine, MechAssault updated the xbox live dash, using X2.3b pro with 4980 BIOS, chip disabled before attempting to go live.  I also get the "Xbox live not found" error, but not the "Your console may have been modified" error.

I wonder what gives?

My Y code was:  00C2 - 0060

Can anyone shed some insight? Hopefully?  huh.gif

I hope for your sake that i'm wrong about this...but i'm pretty sure that your Y code means you are banned.

Troubleshoot the connection and let us know what error you get at the end, as it simply doesn't just say "xbox live not found"

Well, on a hunch I swapped my 80 gig HD out and re-installed the original 10giger that came with my Xbox.  Lo and behold, Xbox Live is working again...

So I guess the questions now are:

1. Why isn't the box allowing me to play using the upgraded HD?  It's using the original BIOS (modchip turned off), and obviously the HDD is locked.

2. Will I get banned in a few days (hours, minutes, weeks, etc) since it failed to let me connect to Live when using the upgraded HD?

Mysterious.  I also seem to recall reading somewhere that an initial Y code of 00C2 meant "major hardware problem"...???

Thanks for the reply!  Other insights are welcome too. :-)

I had same problem but i FIXED it like this:
I ran my avalaunch and looked at my Hardware settings.
It said i had PAL-1 or PAL-I whatever and behind it said: WEIRD
So i thought let's use the Enigmah PAL-NTSC switcher, so i did and select PAL, rebooted again and checked hardware again. The WEIRD word was gone so i turned off modchip, rebooted and voila i was able to connect again to the XBOX live. Dont know what went wrong but its working again :P :D

I'm having this exact same problem.  If I set my IP address on the xbox to automatic I get past all the checks (cable connected, ip address, dns)  But then it says xbox live not found.  If I leave it set to manual to 192.168.1.5 I don't even get a ip address and fail on the check.  I haven't checked my codes yet as I will do that when I get home(at work), I will also try my old hd to see if it works.  I'm just hoping I can get it to work.

I had the same problem on a soft modded box.  Harrytaskers solution worked for me!  I had used avalaunch also, and had my box set to ntsc weird, used Enigma's video switch disk and set it back to ntsc m.

Remember that using an alternative dash like evox will change your xbox network settings. if the settings you use for evox dont match the settings xbox live needs to connect such as ip address or DNS then it will not connect to live until you resolve this.

DNS settings in evox are default to 0.0.0.0
you will need to change it to the DNS settings for your ISP.

Your codes confirm you are banned.
