Team Executor has given us a gift for the New Year; a BIOS that disables Xbox Live. The BIOS is called
X2 4981.06 (no G: drive support)
X2 4981.67 (G: drive support)
Just flash your modchip with this BIOS, and when you try to connect to Xbox Live anywhere, your Xbox will quickly report a connection to Live issue. Even if you run the troubleshooter, Live will still not connect.
Of course, this is all with your modchip on because the BIOS doesn't allow the connection. Turn your modchip off, and Live will work just fine.
Since Xbox Live will not connect with modchip on, backups will not work.
