QUOTE (milkmaid @ Jan 20 2004, 07:49 AM)
anybody tried just using a firewall to stop a certain ip from accessing external networks?
also setting the gateway to an invalid ip should mean that the xbox cannot find any external network?
surely u can test this by setting the gateway to an invalid ip when non modded to see if it can connect.

i dont have live.. yet and dont want to bother with the whole unpluggin of network cables..

But I want my Xbox to have full, proper network connection all the time.  I don't want to block it at the firewall, or set an invalid gateway.  I wan't in online, all the time.

That's why I started using the Memory Card trick.  And BTW, I still haven't got banned, even after clicking on Xbox Live with my modchip enabled (Mem Card unplugged).  smile.gif

wink.gif But Even If You Have No Account on XBOX Live, You Can Still Get Banned if you Goto XBL Tab in a Modded Game. But It Would Prevent the Live-Enabled Game Problem...

The easiest way is to just unplug the network cable.

Well, for me, it is just avoid Live tabs. Haven't been banned since November 2002  wink.gif

I'm sorry but if your stupid enough to get banned (And don't say you were banned with your chip off, you had the chip on, end of story), then you really shouldn't have a modded Xbox and be trying to play Live on it.

Get yourself a second Xbox, then you definatly won't get banned.

I guess I can confirm the opposite blink.gif :
Back in the old days of Live, I accidently (heh wink.gif) hit the "Download Levels" tab in Splinter Cell.. At the time I had no Live account, so SC took me to the "Create a new account" screen, but it didn't ban me from Live, as I've been able to signup and go on Live eversince.

Well I got banned recently just by putting a game in the drive.  Damn Rainbow Six.  Didn't really matter.  I hadn't played live in months.

Man I hate auto-sign in, I had it enabled for a while before I figured out what it was. Good thing I leave my xbox unplugged from the network while using my chip wink.gif
