Http Proxy Stopping Me From Using Xbl

You could set up ICS on a computer, get that on the internet through the proxy and have the xbox get on the internet through it.  Or aren't there some routers that allow you to enter proxy info to connect? then you could just hook up to a router.

I am at University and although i have a ridiculously fast internet connection, i can't get XBL to work because i can't type in the http proxy settings into the xbox.

Is there any way to get XBL to function on an internet connection that is upplied through a http proxy?

thanks in advance.

I don't think Xbox Live uses HTTP so an HTTP proxy is pointless. If you can't connect, then chances are that the school's firewall is blocking the ports. If that's the case, then your SOL. Sorry.

According to Shanafan's thread:

http://forums.xbox-s...=121516&hl=port

Xbox Live uses these ports:

• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074

The actual application protocol (FTP, HTTP, etc) is irrelevant, but I'm sure they're using a custom protocol.

Bottom line, if you don't have these ports open you can't connect.
