Yes, even with a passcode, it will connect to Live in a manner that WILL ban you, whereas by deleting your Live account from the HD, it will sometimes connect to Live, but in a manner that will NOT ban you.

?

Xbox Live will not delete your account from your Xbox. With the passcode on, in XBox games, Live will not connect until the passcode that is entered is correct.

Go into the saves section and your Live account is listed with the game saves, and you delete it like you would a save.  It's easy to delete your account from the HD.  When I talked about Live getting deleted from your HD, I meant when YOU do it.  Read more carefully.  smile.gif

When you use the passcode, when you click on something dealing with Live, it doesn't connect to Live fully, but traffic is sent to Live.  With only a passcode, it still connects to Live, because it knows that you have a Live account and can, but by you actually deleting your Live account, the Xbox thinks that you can't even use the Live services.

Hope that clears it up.  smile.gif

I can't figure out if there are or not Live-aware games whose backups you can't totally Live-disable by removing update.xbe, xbeupdater.xbe and downloader.xbe? That is, are there games with Live-capabilities somewhere else in the code files?

I'm a n00b on XBLIve so excuse my question. blink.gif

Just use X2 4980 BIOS to disable Live.

You don't need to use a PC.  Just use the MS Dashboard 'Memory' screen and Copy the Account to your Memory Card.

Hey brienj, how do you backXBL to a memory card. I can connect my xbox to a pc, what drive and in what folder is it located? Thanks.

It's not a file on the HD in that way. You have to either use a memory unit, or do Account Recovery in Live, to get retrieve your account. All this is covered in the pinned topics.

Well... I've seen something weird about that... I've saved my live account on a memory card, it has a password and I have 4980 flashed as well... but if I am in M$ Dash, chip off, as soon as I put the mem card in, it tells me that I have several number of friends connected, I don't see the names untill I go into the friends options in the new dash, and just there, it'll ask me for my passcode...

That has me confused and irritated. I am going to try again tonight and make sure.

Ya, you can get onto the live dashboard without a passcode, but as far as i know*from other post* It stop xbox-live from connecting in live-aware games, before it connects to your account, it asks for the passcode

No Xbox games will connect to Live when you load it, unless your profile for the game is the same as your gamertag or auto sign-in is enabled.

As per my other thread I *think* Star Wars:Battlefront does do this.

Just trying to keep people safe ;-)

Driv3r is XBL aware, and the original Splinter Cell(Not Pandora Tomorrow) "phones home" during the bootup on the game it will connect 2 an MS server, tho not through the same ports as regular XBL traffic, and they do collect user data through it, though it's odd as it never requests on takes ur serial number(outgoing Traffic from ur XBOX), tho the MS Server does send ur Serial Number back 2 your XBOX. I read all about this on xbox-linus.org but the article i read it in is now missing

Hey shanafan, can you edit this part of your post in light of SWBF ?

I believe this game tries to sign you in whatever, so you need the latest x2 bios.

The only other way to stop it would be to unplug your network cable right ?

I have not tried this game yet, so don't know 100%. Please dont flame me !!!!

I am going to join live soon, and I don't want to get banned.

Chip DUO2 X
EVO X installed
Its a V1.6 and a philips drive

for non mod I press eject button and go to MS dash.

for modded I press power button and go to Evo X dash.

What I have read so far

1. Disable auto login
2. Create a password
3. Use original game

Anything else I should do?
I can't flash the bios, cos I dont know how.

How are people getting banned?
Is it cos they leave there chip enabled, or are there other reasons?

Also how do I delete the microsft dash in EvoX?
