evoxdash.xbe

like I said.. I'm not a n00b, I don't have an explanation for this and now i'm out of a chip for now.  I couldn't get it to write the bios today so I'm send my box to someone to see if they can get the chip working, they are more experienced witht he hardware than I am.

Try hard-grounding D0 using a single wire.  If the Xbox frags, then your chip might be damaged.

I don't believe th chip was damaged but I'm more concerned with why this happened?  how the hell could this happen?  it doesn't make sense!

Perhaps some heavy static discharge damaged the chip, preventing it from soft-grounding.  It certainly didn't overwrite the BIOS with the MS BIOS.

but if that was true then wouldn't the box give an error when I turn the chip back on?  instead it just loaded the box as if there was no chip inside at all.

whatever did it, it seems a good idea not to leave your mod flash protect switch off!

its not impossible for it to have been done by microtoss, but unlikley i would say!!

best be on the safe side methinks!

well I had to replace my chip.  It would not reflash.  The person who I buy from said he had 3 other people send him chips that were busted from the same problem.   Instead of throwing this aside saying it's "impossible" is childish... this may be a serious issue.  Though I guess it could be avoided with flash protection.

Duder man, thanks for the update. But I honestly think it is just a faulty modchip. As Xbox Live does not delete the BIOS on a modchip. Seems very impossible to do, since the modchip is not on when you use Live. And, even if it was on, still would be impossible.

not only does it seem impossible, it IS impossible, first off, Live cannot detect a disabled LPC modchip, and second, a disabled LPC chip cannot be flashed by any sort of software if the xbox is booted from the TSOP (chip disabled) same reason a TSOP cannot be flashed after booting from an LPC chip, doesnt matter if your write protect was enabled or not

just an odd coincidence, perhaps a bad batch of chips from the installer (not even xecuters are perfect, lol) and the 2.0 is a little on the old side (yes, i realize there are still alot of people running enigmas with no problem, im justs aying is all)

I'm thinking the d0 point on the front got isolated in some way from the modchip d0 point , but if he said that it was soldered on...

just out of curiousity.. he said he turned off his chip prior to installing live. my question is, did he even check the switch before calling the modchip a failure?

it did not overwrite the BIOS.. it seemed to fry the chip altogether.  Whether it was live or not I don't know but I didn't have flash protection on and I know alot of people usually have that installed.

Yes my chip was turned off during install.. yes I made sure it was on after ward when testing.. yes a reprogrammed it and it still isn't working meaning the chip is busted since I checked the points and everything is in tact.

Yes my theory sounds extreme but it could be possible.  All signs (on my end at least) point to it as the answer... I have no ther answer.

Your modchip was faulty. Got it?

Live does not delete, or reflash, or whatever to modchips.
