my idea was more like this.

step 1. write a small app that flashed the eeprom with zeros for serial number, hdd key, online key.  You could set it as the dash, then it would it would check for zeros and load the real dash.  Then let MS ban me because I'm nobody.  Then before I want to go live put back my real eeprom values.  Write a routine that would put back the values and power off the box.

step 2. change bios to not boot default.xbe.

In this way it would be very hard to get banned.

What do you guys think?

Oh yeah it would also have unlock the drive before re-writing the eeprom values.

why bother? flashing a banned eeprom would protect yours i suppose but is there any real point. why not just be more careful with your switch? what if your flash messed up? no more xbox at all!
and its not hard to get banned with that, if you went on dash without flashing your eeprom.. you arent really solving anything

Can't you just put a passcode on your account and that's that?

If you know your chip is enabled and you see a "enter passcode:" screen, it's one last chance before you get yourself banned.

I can confirm the passcode screen comes up regardless if you have the network cable plugged or unplugged, so communication with XBLive will only occur once you get the passcode correct.

Other alternative is unplug the network cable. If you want to play system-link games online for free with XLink and XBC, well then do the passcode thing and leave your network cable in. I'd suggest leaving the cable out before loading the newer games to see what it does (like what RS3 does)...

I've got a better idea,

for the hacked BIOS, why not make it boot only incorrectly signed XBE's, no good XBE's

This will stop you accidently booting your live game (or dash) with the switch in the wrong position.

Of course, if you're a pirate and an idiot, you could still get banned by messing with live in pirated games... but hopefully ppl aren't either of those things.

That's a better idea? When you can set a passcode and unplug a cable within 20 seconds? LOL. Do as you wish.....
