I have done it with a Matrix!

a friend of mine, actually has to do this  (hes a dumbass and tried to flash his TSOP)

anyways, he plays on LiVE with the MS BIOS, then he has to load up 007 and reflash it back to xecuter..

It works just fine! Although, when he flashes back to original, its as if the xbox was just first turnt on

I have a X2L flashed with a 512 k MS bios and a 512 k x-ecutor bios. I used X2 Bios manager and took two copys of the 256 k big ms bios and two copys of the 256 k big x-ecutor bios and merged it in to one 1024 k bios and just flashed my chip with it. Works perfect with live.

Just make sure that you use the right MS bios for your xbox. But if you do it right you should be able to boot x-ecutor, even though you can't boot ms dashboard with the version you're using. Then you can just try a different version of the bios until it works. That's what i did.

Hope that can help you.

People have flashed their TSOP with a modified BIOS, and flashed their modchip with MS BIOS, and have played on Live.

Some people have split their TSOP with half modified, and half MS. They use a switch to switch (duh) between the BIOSES to play on Live.

So, it's possible. But, I haven't done any of this, just is a little too risky for me.

BTW, Ricflairandy, I moved your post to the Dashboard exploits board. There is to be no exploits discussion on THIS board.

I think the problem with "just padding out" is it's practically impossible to match the CRC... but I could be wrong.

Sure - I guess that would depend what check is in place - whether it is a checksum or a CRC, and how many bytes it is... does anyone know for sure?  Has anyone done a packet-sniff of the data that gets passed over to Live?

The whole reason I asked about this is because I can't boot off the TSOP anymore.  I don't WANT to defeat Xbox Live.  I just want to be able to use my Xbox with its original BIOS, and the only way I see possible right now is to put it on one of the memory banks on the mod chip.

So, like, I assume the 4034 BIOS is 256K.  If I load that onto 3 of the banks (and X2-4977 on the other bank), I should be OK.  As long as I don't pad it to 512K, I shouldn't have anything to worry about, right?

BTW, thanks for all the responses.
