Technical Difficulties...
« on: September 12, 2003, 09:52:00 PM »

Ever since the new dash came out a day or so ago I have spent at least 4 total hours trying to download it.  It keeps giving me:

"Unable to continue due to technical difficulties.  Please try again later."

At first I though, Okay, it's probably because of all the people downloading it, but I have been trying it at all times of the day and right now (1:46AM) and it still does not work.  I have a 120gb HDD installed but I don't think that's the problem.  I have a matrix installed with mode 3 enabled.  I don't know what's wrong, all my friends have downloaded it in at most 2 tries.  Can someone tell me if they're having the same problem or know how to fix this.  Thanks for reading, peace.

You seem to be having problems with your network settings. Are you running EvolutionX?

I suggest turning your Matrix to mode 2 (modchip off) and trying again. I think there might be a conflict among the settings.

I am having the same problem.

I wonder if there is something hardware wise that we all share in common.

I have the X2 lite chip turned off
Running Evolution X
WD 100 GB hdd

I also just ftp'd into the box to look at the files sitting on the C drive.  Does anybody it would be worth while to compare the files there?

I can still connect to Live, have been play ESPN football over the past couple days, so I don't think it has much to do with the network settings, but i would be willing to try pretty much anything to resolve this now.

I ftped into my box and looked at the new files.  They have .du behind the filename.  The new dash only got to 1.84megs then it quits.  I really don't know what to do, but I'm going to call M$ today and complain.  If anyone else wants to do the same and see if they get results, please do so, it might help.  That's all I got to say, if I find anything else out, I'll post it.

Okay, i just reinstalled my old factory HDD, took everything that wasn't supposed to be there off of it and tried to download the update.  First I got the xbox live service is unavailable, then I tried again and I got the same error that I've gotten for the past few days.  So I really don't know what's going on since I used a "virgin" drive basically and it still messed up.  I even plugged the ethernet cable directly into the modem but still no luck.  I'm going to call M$ in a little bit to see if I can get this crap fixed.
