So if your modding you connect the xbox upto live with the new dashboard installed and then drop it back to the old dashboard and then install

meaning someone else won't mess it up afterwards...?

? blink.gif

If they are storing which eeproms have downloaded new live and you mod for someone else (who isn't on live) you could connect to live with your account.. now it's registered as having new live...

make sence?

Let me see, are you saying if I mod someone elses ex-box then I could take their Eeprom and and create a new account?  If so then, yes I can!  I have a lot of Eeproms and I use them for experiments.  Heck you can change the region xbe or DvD that your box reads based on the Eaprom that you use.....

No

You need an unique online key to make a new Xbox Live account. Thats why stores have a Xbox Live Starter Kit.

So I guess the queston is this...

What if we just never log into XBL from the dash?  Will it update with the first game that you try?

Or is it just logging in through the dash that makes you update?

I think it would be worthwhile to revert to a "non on-line" dash, and one that lets you keep your exploits, but wouldn't it be better to keep the new live for the added features?

It seems to be the new dash that caused problems, not the new online.

Or does the new online REQUIRE the new dash?

Very interesting stuff!

Sorry to diverge the thread

Really I never knew... so you can actually just change the Eeprom on an imported X-Box and make it into a local one then (local as in the region you live in)

Yes using TeamAssembly's ConfigMagic App you can take Japanese Xbox box and make it a U.S. xbox.  I know this because I do it for  a lot of americans here in Japan that buy Japanese Xboxs!

I was trying to figure out the m $ database weather it is being done by Eeprom or by unique login or both smile.gif

I think that based on login, MAC and maybe Eeprom is how they remember as to whether you did the update or not.   My test say this is how!

I agree I think the it would be the eeprom but I have to experiment. beerchug.gif

Wondering if there are any new functions in the new SDK for the new version of live

If not future games might not ask for the update...

Lets wait and see.

But if your GT is on the memcard, and someone accidentally loads up a live tab from either a game or the dash, how will that help you?

I can get onto XBL without a gamers tag.  We all can.

And how is that any different than it is now when you have a modchip in your Xbox?  My whole point was to point out that people are freaking out for nothing and I was merely showing them how to have the new dash NOT access Live automatically.  smile.gif

But I finally realize that no matter how many times you try to put the truth out there, somebody has a "what if" just waiting to be said.  biggrin.gif

Everybody just go ahead and ignore my previous posts and get an ulcer, while I enjoy knowing that I am safe from the Live 2.0 update accessing Live when it wants and it will only access Live when I want it to.  smile.gif

Anyone else still having problems of it getting partially through the update and then saying "cannot update due to technical difficulties, try again later..."?

Brienj, I may be wrong but I think you're missing the point here.  Just because your gamertag is on a memcard, doesn't mean the new MS dash won't be able to connect to Xbox Live and get you banned.  It connects automatically, whether you have a gamertag or not.

Now what about this feature I hear about, being able to turn OFF the automatic login to XBLive 2.0?
Can I turn the mod chip off, connect to Live, update to 2.0, turn OFF the automatic login, and be on my way?

Yes, Yes, Yes...as all the other posts say if you read them....just stay away from the Live menu setting from then onwards if your mod's enabled.
