So far...

XBOX LIVE DOES AUTOMATICALLY CONNECT UNLESS YOU SET IT TO! WHICH IS AUTOMATIC ONCE INSTALLED BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evolution X - BOOTED OK!
Backup -       BOOTED OK!

New live dash is great except for people using backups... well... let's say just turn off your auto sign in and you will be FINE!

Otherwise XBOX Live! Connects automatically catching you out andbein BANNED EASIER!

NOTE: NEW DASH REVISION

D: 1.00 5659.01

I ALSO CONNNECTED WENT TO NETWORK SETTINGS WITH CHIP ENABLED WHILE PLUG WAS IN!
AS FAR AS I KNOW FROM WHAT HAPPPENED AS SOON AS I HIT THE NETWORK SETTINGS IN THE XBOX DASH IT IMMEDIATLY CRASHED MY XBOX....

That's all folks  wink.gif

Sounds like M$ rocked your world, then.

Ironic that they choose Sept. 11th to tear down the two main exploits, eh?

I always suspected M$ had Middle Eastern roots...

QUOTE (bikr @ Sep 11 2003, 06:16 PM)
so just for clarification , you have to click the  "xbox live" link on the dash in order to get this , just loading up msdash won't do it automatically?

bikr,

This is what is being said.

If you leave your box how it is, it will stay how it is.

But the minute you CHOOSE to connect to XBLIVE (whether or not you have an XBL account, or even a starter kit for that matter), it will automatically d/l the new dash.

As part of the new dash, exploits no longer work.  Although it appears that modchips/gamesaves still do, and modified bioses can access that new dash without problems...

However, the truely dastardly problem is this:  With the new dash, as soon as you choose XBOXDASH from evox, it will automatically go online and log into live while you are at the dash, without giving you an option to log in or not.  You MUST disable this option.

In essence, they have made it MUCH easier for someone with a modified bios to get banned, since just the action of going into MSdash may ban your EEPROM, even if you don't have an XBL account.

So far, it appears a must that you remove/password all links to the MSDASH from your modified setup, or that you remove the network cable.

And you most likely will not be able to play some new games that come out, because MS will most definitely automatically update your dash when you play/install them.  They will not let those software exploits survive, their goal is to make it as difficult as possible so every average person can't do it.  Most people don't want to (or aren't capable) of opening their Xbox so modchips aren't as big a deal.

Auto Sign-In can be disabled or enabled to "automatically sign-in last used Xbox Live account where possible?" Now, wait a sec. Does this mean, account (like if you have two, the last one used with be signed on) or, signing onto Live in general when Xbox is turned on. I honestly think its means....LAST ACCOUNT USED. Because if you turn this off, Live will still connect when you turn your Xbox on! Again, I think. Because, if you turn this feature off, the main MS dash will load on a reboot, and when you go into the Live tab, select your account, Live is VERY quickly accessed.

I think this means it will auto sign-in if the last used account has no password assigned to it.  If you have setup a password I don't think it will sign you in.  After-all isn't that why those uf us who assigned passwords did that in the first place?  I did it so that if MS decides to charge for time my roomates couldnt log-in and charge me when they use my box.

Just my thoughts

For anyone who has a router that allows you to block MAC addresses from accessing the internet, do that.  That's what I'm going to do.  My Xbox won't be able to get outside of my local network.  That way, I can continue to access it with ftp and for relax shares, but I shouldn't have to worry about this new dash coming down the pipe and screwing my software exploits up.  I know MS might start forcing a dash update in new games, but I'm sure a quick scan of xbox-scene will alert me to which games are doing it.  Hopefully by that time, new soft exploits will have been discovered.

I think there are already some mis-conceptions about Auto Sign-In

As I already stated, when enabled, the last account used on Live will be loaded when you turn on your Xbox and you will go to the Live dash. If disabled, the normal MS dash will load when you turn your Xbox on. Then, you can select your Live account from the dash and Live will load instantly.

The setting for this mentions nothing about disabling the actual Live log-in.

Remember, even before Live 2.0 came out, you could still get banned by signing onto Live with the modchip on.
