Try a different cable then. Check the cables.. means check the cables.

Are the lights on the network port in the back on?

What do I do if I am not banned but have the xbox live not found. I upgraded to a 120 gb hd. then to a 250. The 120 worked fine but the 250 won't connect. Help what do I do.

And, how do you know you are not banned?

Replacing Your Eeprom Using Configmagic Final
« Reply #17 on: January 27, 2004, 05:29:00 PM »

I carefully read through all threads before I post a question.  I did not see this answered specificially anywhere so here goes.  A friend of mines xbox is having the 00C2 code in the Y section (please see the other pin in this forum if no idea what I'm talking about).  There is no S/N number when the xbox is doing its xbox live thing.  So I realize I need a new EEPROM.

My magic question is "Can I use my xbox's eeprom.bin file to fix his eeprom problem?"  I access Live all the time and want no problem connecting up if we both have the same eeprom AND connect up at the same time.  The only problem I can see this can cause is 1) if he gets banned, so will I 2)the mac address on both eeproms will be identical and cause a problem if we access Live at the same time which we plan to do.  #1 can be a bad problem.  #2 seems unlikely because of how networking works.

Explaining #2:  If we both use a router to access the internet, the mac address of the xboxes will never be seen on the internet.  mac addresses change per routing hop (ip addresses in the data frame stay constant, mac addresses change per every router that handles the data packet).  Due to this fact, I can theoretically use a copy of my eeprom.bin file to fix his box without a problem unless we both setup our xboxes on the same LAN which will then render both boxes unable to receive data packets.

Thoughts?

As said many times, the same EEPROM can not be used on Live at the same time. It will result in a ban.

Thanks Shanafan.  I still don't understand why it will result in a ban when the mac address of the xbox is never seen by the xbox live severs....*snap* wait a sec!  okay I see how they do it now.  Within the data packet the eeprom information is part of the data.  If the eeprom data matches another's eeprom data while both accessing Live, I can see how a ban will be placed.  So in all actuality the MAC address of the xbox still gets to M$ not by data link translation (over the network) but inside of the framed data itself (the eeprom info that gets sent).

Thanks man.  Well I guess I got to find my buddy a new eeprom.

Hey all...

I loaded up Config magic and backed up my eprom files. Somehow down the line sonething went wrong and now I have no serial # displayed or online key #. It seems to be all 000000's. I cannot access the box using FTP...

Any solutions?...

I'm certain the problem didn't happen from the backup but probably did with "somehow down the line...".  The first thing I would do is try accessing ftp via a regular windows command prompt ( c:\ftp ----> open ----->  ip address of xbox)  and see if you can access it that way.  If not then there is definitely a problem with your dashboard.  I had a similar problem when I installed Avalaunch over my Evox dash.  Come to find out the problem was FlashFXP.  I simply reinstalled the program.  Something went awry with it.  It wasn't my dashboard at all.

What exactly did you do before getting the blank serial and online key?

Evox has a "backup" menu option.  Select this option and a little backup banner comes up with a smiley face.  You can find hdd.txt, eeprom.bin and a couple other files in the backup folder.  If you don't see it, first create a "backup" folder in the root of C:  Run the backup option again and eeprom.bin will be there.

Yah but do i have to put a command promt in or something because i don't have an option saying i can back it up, but i was told config magic can make this backup,

Hello...I need to reprogram myEeprom.  I bought a new eeprom.bin but I do not know how to load it up.  I also have Slayer's Evox Autoinstaller.  I have read the instruction and it states to load the unbanned eeprom file into the data directory..Where is the data directory. unsure.gif   I can load ConfigMagic off the cd but where do I ftp the new eeprom.bin file??

The data directory is with Configmagic.

Configmagic, if it is on your Xbox HD, is somewhere on E: or F: I do not know where.. I don't use Slayer's as I prefer to do things myself to avoid issues like these.

FTP in your Xbox, and explore

I want to backup my eeprom, since I don't plan to go on Xbox Live for awhile.
I want to replace the eeprom with a banned eeprom.
Is this possible?

What are the keys I need the change?
Serial?
Online Key?
Confounder?

I'm going to change the MAC address for sure.

Is there some check to see if the serial key/online key is valid? Or can I enter any value?
And where can I get my hands on some banned eeprom keys.

I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but hopefully someone out there understands.

K, I just followed the instructions in this thread. My xbox was banned. I bought a new EEPROM. I installed it via configmagic, unlock hdd, load new EEPROM from bin, set the DVD KIT thing to 1, which was the same as my old xbox EEPROM, region was the same. Updated it, locked the hdd and exited.. Seems ok, it let me on Xbox Live, asking me to sign up for a new subscription, which is fine.

Thing is, I loaded up Ninja Gaiden to test it, and all my save game files were corrupted and it said it couldn't load them. Is there anything I can do about this?

I don't know if this has spread to other games as well.
