Replacing Your Eeprom Using Configmagic Final
« on: January 05, 2004, 03:37:00 PM »

Well thank you so much Shanafan for this wonderful tutorial! This board is definitely the #1 place for all x-box related info!

**UPDATE**

It works perfectly! The only downside was that config magic somehow corrupted some of my data, possibly when unlocking and locking the hard drive. All my downloaded content got fried, but oh well. I'm back on live!

Because content is specific to the Xbox it was downloaded to.

Im having same problem MPAGE had but no one seemed to commit on it.  After eeprom change I get no serial in the troubleshooter but I did get on on my old ban eeprom.  Sounds like a bad eeprom to me but im a newbie at this.  Is there any config setting on eeprom I can check?  Seller says it works fine on his.  Dont know who to believe.  Ive reflashed the old one back on it and I get the serial number.  Im pretty sure im doing everything right.  If you have any ideas let me know or if you feel sorry for me and have a spare good eeprom I can have let me know.

Use a new EEPROM. That one is bad.

I´ve read in other tutorials that locking/unlocking your hdd if you have a v1.1 Xbox could render your hdd useless. Does that only apply if you use the application eepromer? Is it safe to do it with ConfigMagic Final? Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere, but I guess it´s better to be cautious then to mess up your beloved box.  tongue.gif

Locking or unlocking your HD can not render it useless. Don't use EEPROMER, use Configmagic.

is there a danger when doing this using only the font exploits(not a modchip),if I do everything right?

I just posted on eepromer in the wrong forum...(sorry)

if you do everything right, no danger.  But if you mess something up you may need to buy a mod chip to recover.

Well....I just got *ANOTHER* EEPROM, went through the ConfigMagic tutorial w/ once again everything going smoothly....

Try to connect to Live as before.....SAME (4th step, after IP/DNS resolve) unable to connect to Xbox Live error...what the hell!!!!

The EEPROM is from a same friend, he has over 50 EEProms and I know theyre not banned...I will find out what program he uses to dump them with if that would help

I was just banned from Live about three days ago.  After a little research here, I ended up with a new eeprom and config magic.  I seemed to have replaced the eeprom fine, there's a new s/n number and I connect to the Live service.  The problem I'm having is upon updating the eeprom Live doesn't seem to "find" my previous live account on the harddrive.  I figured I would just go through account recovery, but after filling everything out there, it gives me a message saying incorrect gamertag or other information.  Has anybody else had any problems like this?

PIN please.
By the way, if you are getting IP 0.0.0.0 after successfully flashed with new eeprom, you may need to assign different IP if static or let the router choose the IP if Dynamic. Your previous IP and MAC address will not work no more and if you don't change that you can't connect. You need to know alittle bit about networking too.   biggrin.gif
Ok. Back on LIVE again. no more fooling around .  cool.gif

Yes, the MAC address is different in each EEPROM

I'm a newbie to the site and I've been reading through the forums like crazy. I hope I didn't miss the answer somewhere. Someone else on this thread asked a similar question but I never found a reply.

Here goes...

So I follwed the directions and have the EEPROM updated (bought three of 'em from this site). One deviation in the instructions, I'm using Slayer's Auto Installer and couldn't find a DATA folder on my PC (ConfigMagic didn't work on my PC) so I created a DATA folder on every Xbox partition and copied EEPROM purchase #1 to all of them. It seemed to update fine.

It came up in German even though the region codes and all that were fixed. I changed to English but the GMT is still based on German. Interesting. Anyway, I no longer get the "your Xbox has been modded" error when I try to go to Xbox Live but I get a "Xbox consle cannot connect to Xbox Live because of technial issue." I know the network connection is working because with the mod turned on I can access the system without any problem. The IP is not 0.0.0.0. It changed to last four digits 107.

However, do I have to change the mac address manually somewhere? I'm a bit at a loss. In the past the Auto Config just worked fine to get me onto Xbox Live.

Any help at all would be great. Thanks.

Duh. I finally figured it out (figured how to copy ConfigMagic to my HD!). Then copied the bin over and then everything was hunky dory! I must have loaded up the bin from the Slayer CD in my previous effort! Oops. Anyway, I used a program called Xcommander to copy ConfigMagic to my APplications folder on the F drive. Reading through these forums has been more informative so thanks!

QUOTE (Anomaly @ Sep 10 2003, 01:47 AM)
Something that concerns me is that as I have a Japanese Xbox, Config magic reports the region as "UNKNOWN - region 2".

I have made a backup and moved it to the /Data folder for config magic (just in case) but I wonder if config magic really understands this version?

Anyone can confirm this Question ?

I followed all the steps. and I can see the new serial #  but when I goto account recovery it says. cannot connect to live, due to technical issues ? could this have to do with the mac address?

Look like Im having the same prob.  All the steps in changing went fine.  It does not give me the banned error for modifying hardware.  Now it is a check your cables error.  The cables are fine and i am able to sign on with my other box.  What do I need to do now???
