Write Protecting Eeprom To Avoid Being Banned...
« on: August 18, 2003, 06:40:00 AM »

in my opinion live ban your eeprom by flagging your eeprom in xbl server.... so each time you connect, the xbl dash will try to read the eeprom, and after it read your eepro and match it with the "banned" databe, the they will block live access....
so
the eeprom is not changed, the xbox live have memorized your xbox wether it's banned or not...

any other ideas ??

But when you are NOT connected to the internet (Xbox Live) and are playing a live enabled game (single player, not on xbox live) with the mod chip ENABLED, some games will "flag" your eeprom.

No, untrue.

The only way it has been rumored that your EEPROM will be get flagged by accessing Live with the modchip on, but the network cable unplugged, is by accessing the Live tab in the MS dash. I, for one, do not want to test this.

And when you do get online on xbox live with the mod chip DISABLED, xbox live will see the "flag" in your eeprom and ban you.

I just read on the forum that those games do exist (I can't confirm this)
and people where banned this way even with the mod chip disabled.

right .. show me the threads on this about people getting banned with thier modchips off on these games that so call flag your eproom.

Read a lot of treads about "flagging the eeprom", just use the search.

Don't know if it's true. Could be a hoax.

Shanafan doesn't beleave so. He could be right.

But for prevention, is it save to write protect the eeprom
or is it asking for trouble because ms writes in it?
And how the hell do you write protect it?
