If we turn off the modchip MS willnot be able to scan our F drive. The F drive was created from the modified bios from the modchip. When the modchip is turned off, the F drive is not evident anymore. Maybe we can put everything on the F if everything comes to worse. I pretty sure about the F drive though.

I predict......... On august 25th, Xbox-scene forums explode in waves of questions about live 2.0. Hopefully no major damage'll be done. I just found out I may not have been banned afterall. Finding out I can go live, only to find out that I may then not be able to is depressing!

If it peeks at the Friends list whenever you turn on the Xbox then expect it to check the perimeter for mods.

What I have been doing for awhile now with my old mod and on/off switch is I've left the default dashboard the default one and boot EvoX off a CDRW disc.  Any other game I have are on DVDRs and I'd boot them up normally.  Unless I'm forgetting something this method sounds fine for a new age of Live dashboards as long as you pay attention closer then logging onto Live with the switch still left on....

...unless it does a connection to Live if it has a hard time reading a disc.  I get that the odd time (The disc cannot be read check if it's dirty etc)  That would screw this plan over

"And finally (although not technically part of the August 25th Launch) - new "Live Aware" games will be hitting the shelves this holiday season. These will auto-magically log on to the Live service while you are playing so that even though you're not playing on Live currently - you can still see what's happening on live and receive game invites that will pop up in the game you're playing"

well there is always a simpler solution as far as those that are using router as iam you can just put your xbox on a static ip and then go into your router config page and disable that ip from reacing the net even though it will still be able to go thru your lan like if u still want to use xbmp. I have a linksys router n in there is a tab that says filters where u can specify what range of ip you dont want to get on the internet meaning outside your lan. So no need to disconnect lan cable and what not

I really dont care about the update.I have 2 XBOX's 1 chipped the other isnt.I dont know what everyone is all worried about you can just unplug your cablea and there for your xbox wont be able to log on....

2 xboxs are the best! one for live. one for backups... no need to worry about getting banned.

Well, it's certainly no economical solution.  The people that cannot afford multiple Xboxes are just being prudent about this upcoming dash, and justifiably so.

There is a simple solution to the Live Aware games, just keep the xbox unplugged from the internet!
To be honest, the only real problem is if the new dashboard or games have some kind of new inbuilt mod-chip detection that flags something even if you have the cable unplugged.

If however the updates and new detection techniques only occur while the xbox is connected to live.. just keep the damn thing unplugged fullstop.

My xbox is never plugged into the net when my modchip is turned on, and when i want to use live i just flick the switch and plug the cable in.

That is fine for now, hopefully that will be enough for this.. but you never know  blink.gif

So then you are screwed when you want to play games on XBConnect for example.
