I dont think its illegal to create YOUR OWN backup. (Hence the media check on newer games) This was implemented not to stop you from copying games to your hard drive, but to stop you from sharing them. You bought the game, YOU OWN that copy of the game, you can do whatever you please with that copy, but if you make a copy for someone else, then your breaking the law. =0)

Are you kidding me?  If you rent a game and make YOUR OWN backup, you should in all rights be seeing YOUR OWN ass in the klink.
